A senior official in Communist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration tried to hold an official meeting with the Iranian regime’s ambassador to the United Nations.
Commissioner Ana María Archila, head of the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, had scheduled the meeting for July 7 at 11 a.m. at 2 United Nations Plaza with Amir-Saeid Iravani, Iran’s permanent representative to the UN.
Two other senior officials from the office were also set to attend, according to calendar invitation screenshots reviewed by City Journal and confirmed by multiple sources, including a State Department official.
The meeting was called off only after the U.S. State Department, which had not been informed in advance, stepped in and met with the Mamdani administration to “clarify acceptable conduct,” according to City Journal.
Archila reportedly did not even tell Mayor Mamdani she had arranged the sit-down. She was later reprimanded and ordered to cancel it.
A spokesperson for the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs issued the predictable damage-control statement: “This meeting did not and will not take place.”

Who thinks Mamdani did not know about the meeting. He just wanted to poke Western Civilization in the eye and he wanted plausible deniability. Muslims lie if it benefits the jihad. Mamdani is closer to the ayatollahs in ideology than he is to the progressive (communist) democRATs.

Well, the meeting didn't actually happen. Perhaps illegality is why Mamdani backed off so quickly.

Ana María Archila is the Commissioner at the NYC Mayor’s Office for International Affairs. For more than two decades, she has been a leader in New York and nationally in the fight for immigrant rights, worker justice, LGBTQ rights, and women’s rights.
Born in Colombia, Ana María immigrated to the US at the age of 17. She co-founded and led several grassroots progressive organizations, including Make the Road New York and the Center for Popular Democracy, and has dedicated her life to fighting for the rights and dignity of working people - Black, Latino, Asian, white, immigrant and native born.
In New York, she fought for years so that every young person would be able to access high-quality education--helping lead campaigns to fully fund public schools, create school-based college access programs, and pass the New York Dream Act. In New York and nationally, she has been a leader in the fight for humane immigration reform.

Prior to assuming the role of Commissioner, she served as co-Director of the New York Working Families Party, where she helped win a historic streak of electoral victories, including electing progressive mayors in four of the largest cities in the state, including New York City.
Rhetorically, what was Mandami’s motive for meeting the Iranians? It certainly wasn’t to gain support for the Pride Day parade.

Misleading headline! The State Dept. was not "forced" to do anything.
Rather, the State Dept. stopped the meeting from taking place - on its own initiative!

This is exactly the kind of treason that can cause Mamdani to be arrested and removed from office and he knows it. He and his people are such extremists, they refuse to recognize the minefields they rush through.
These communists think they are “winning” as they destroy America’s cities. The trash who supposedly “elect” these lunatics will be eating garbage from dumpsters as have other “successful” communists elsewhere.
When you threaten, penalize and chase off those who are productive and wealthy, what other outcome but poverty and misery could result?
I remember when these kooks decided to impose massive taxes on luxury yachts being built in the U.S. northeast. It destroyed the entire yacht-building industry in the region. Thousands lost their ability to earn a living building yachts as the business moved quickly to foreign yacht builders.
When the wealthy pay to build mansions, yachts and private jets, it is experienced tradesmen and women who benefit from high-paying jobs.
