Im just wondering because, from the outside itvappears that Kentuckians view things from a local perspective and not the national perspective.
Special election means both parties get to field a candidate.
I cant overstate how bad it looks for a woman to leave her dying or passed husband in 3 days. It takes 24hrs. To get over there. I just never had the feeling he represented us although I didnt follow his career closely. It was clear that he hated Trump, and lied out right, tricking Trump to forego legislation to the next term which didnt happen. I wish there was some way to get these old farts out. Yes some are good but God bless, dying in office is not a goal! And for goodness sake if you are dead, let go of power already. I dont know why KY kept voting him in. And now we got his little rino buddy. SAVE AMERICA ACT!
That is correct. Too bad Massie acolytes can’t see it.
I heard her maiden name was Fang-fang
The power of encumbency. Georgia is still nominally red, but Ossoff and Warnock are shoe-ins because they are incumbents. Democrats only have to steal once...
That was from 2022 to 2024, then they changed it again to special election.
Because he’s dead or dying.
Not in Kentucky. Special election.
They changed the law. Replacement will be by special election and not by Gov.
This sounds like a possibility.
She is not coming back.
Origionally, the governor (at present a dem) would select a replacement. When McConnell started having health scares, the legislature (a veto proof republican house and senate) passed a law that they would pick 3 candidates and the governor would select one. When McConnel’s health got worse the repubs passed a law that called for a special election. Beshear vetoed it and he got overridden. He’s promised a lawsuit. Our courts will probably rule for Beshear. The dems best known candidate is a 3 time failed pol who lost in the primary. A dark horse is Matt Jones a KY Sports Radio host.
I met Chao once. She is a piece of work. Her bad press is true.
McConnell built a political machine in Ky and starved any republican challenger. The dems have steadily descended into liberal madness that doesn’t work here. Only death could beat him.
There’s no conservatives in Kentucky. Just look at who they elected governor
That’s good to know. We’ve only lived here a few years. I just assumed Beshear would nominate a Dem replacement.
Yes, there’s already a regularly scheduled election this November for that Senate seat.
Both major parties have their nominees for that election. I would expect both of them would be in a special election, if one is going to be held before November due to a vacancy.
Red China is Kentucky’s senator and has been for a very long time.
Intelligence agencies had to have been all over this. This is what FISA was supposed to catch. Yet, nothing??
Q: If McConnell has died, will Kentucky, having re-elected the turtle for DECADES, actually appoint a real conservative?
A: BWHAhahahahahahaha. The (R)N(C) base shills will pull the (R)N(C) lever regardless. The faux dichotomy MUST be protected @ all costs, damn the repercussions!
If McConnell lives past August 3rd, I understand that there will not be a special election. He decided not to run for reelection, and there is a November race between a Republican (Andy Barr) and a Democrat (Charles Booker). Thomas Massie is a wild card; if Kentucky has a “sore loser” law, that would preclude him from running as an independent from his House seat. However, such a law would not prevent him from running for the Senate. Kentucky has not had a Democratic Senator since 1999. Booker lost in 2022 to Rand Paul by over 23 percentage points, so unless Massie jumps in the race for spite, this is a safe GOP seat.
