Went and saw Supergirl. It’s fine. Pluggedin conservative review site got it right too

Posted on 07/02/2026 11:22:09 AM PDT by Billie Bud

Went and saw Supergirl with my comic loving teenager. Don’t know why other than the actresses comments in an interview this movie is being dissed around here. Nothing political. Comic loving son said character was pretty accurate. Go see it. Even pluggedin online said it was fine.

We should support the efforts toward normality. Last year’s Superman was really good and sort of old school hero. Same with this movie.

Nothing woke that I could find in it.

So what you are saying is that companies will tailor their products to maximize their return? What a novel concept!

It would have been much more successful if they had cast Sidney Sweeney as Supergirl.

Yes. It is just my opinion. Also, what you just wrote is … just your opinion. That’s how forums work.

It may be a decent movie but that won't matter because the actress is too short to be Supergirl.

Gal Gadot had the right figure to be Wonder Woman and that's a huge reason why that movie was a success.

“Critical Drinker himself churns out the same tired review and opinion about everything.

His schtick (as formulaic and repetitive of most of the movies he reviews) sadly works for 95% of the Hollywood products...”

We must be seeing different Critical Drinker reviews. I find them to be original, insightful, well-presented and entertaining.

That doesn’t mean it can’t be done better. Are you stepping up or are you simply content to criticize the efforts of others?

She's popular and her 15 minutes are not up yet...but we know Hollywood will never do that.

Too many people are chronically online and do nothing but try and make everything political since they don’t have much else going on in their lives. Im sure the movie is fine though I doubt I’ll ever get around to watching it. Im bored of super hero movies at this point

True enough. She has roughly 10 years left to rake in as much dough as she can before Hollywood kicks her to the curb.

Realistically 5-7 years.

Jennifer Lawrence is already yesterday's news

For me it was the art of comic books. Being an artist I found the drawings of Supergirl to be so well done. Supergirl's first appearance in comics was as Super-Girl in Superman #123 (August 1958), followed by her first appearance as Supergirl in Action Comics #252 (May 1959) But I never really cared that much for Supergirl in the comics, she did not faze me. I preferred Superman but really the ones I loved the most (trying to look like these girls) were Betty and Veronica. The comic art was fabulous.

I saw it with my grandkids and thought it was crap. I wanted to like it. I really did. But it was the typical “girl boss saves the world from the evil men” genre that most of the superhero movies have devolved into. The only halfway likeable character in the entire move was the young girl who acted as Supergirl’s sidekick.

I think it is hilarious that men are being blamed for the movie bombing at the box office when the demographics of the small audience that has actually turned out is 60% men.

I liked the new Superman as well. The new Clark had flashes of Reeves portrayal. The new Lois had that next door neighbor hotness. I’ll checkout the new SG. She was a cutie SG in Superman. Thanks for the rec..

Who made the law that every male superhero had to have a female counterpart?

The only thing I liked about the last Superman movie was that it had Superdog in it. I’d watch a whole movie about Superdog, but otherwise forget it.

The plot of the last Superman movie centered around Superman saving Krypto. The plot of the Supergirl movie centered around Supergirl saving Krypto.

I am waiting for them to come out with a new Justice League movie where they all team up to save Krypto.

Those were my thoughts as well. My very conservative comic loving adult sons loved the Superman movie and were really stupefied by claims it would be woke.

I too saw a lot of the Reeves style in that one.
