Former Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) DNA analyst Yvonne "Missy" Woods pleaded guilty to four felonies (cybercrime, perjury, attempting to influence a public servant and forgery). She faces 8 to 16 years in prison, bringing an end to a scandal that impacted more than 1,000 criminal cases across the state.
Woods was a forensic scientist with the CBI during the 1996 murder of 6-year-old JonBenét Ramsey and was tied to evidence files in the case.
Unidentified foreign male DNA found on the child's clothing has historically been used to clear the Ramsey family, but has yet to identify a perpetrator.
With Woods admitting to deleting or manipulating DNA testing in her cases, the reliability of DNA testing historically handled in the Ramsey file has faced intense scrutiny.
The family has long requested that the FBI or an independent laboratory test the surviving samples.
What Did Yvonne 'Missy' Woods Do?
An internal review revealed that Woods manipulated, omitted, or deleted DNA data to speed up testing in at least 1,045 cases.
Woods is scheduled for sentencing on September 8, 2026.
Police agencies across Colorado are continuing to review evidence and apply evolving forensic technology to affected cases.

I watched a CBS special about the case many yrs ago, they laid it out in detail why it was Burke who committed the murder..he was upset that JonBenet had taken some pineapple that was meant for him so he smacked her over the head with the flashlight, then the parents covered it up to protect him. Burke was VERY jealous of his sister, he would put his poop all over her toys as payback
That’s why the Ramseys, and especially the mother, were acting so weird.
That godawful ‘ransom note’ that was obviously written by her, on her notepad in her bedroom.

I believe the boy was jealous of Jon Benet and she probably got a ton of Christmas presents more than he did. Remember it was Christmas night.
She got all the mother’s attention because of her beauty queen aspirations living vicariously thru her daughter.
He probably killed her in a fit of rage after everybody left , the adult children from the father’s first marriage, and mom & dad had gone to bed.
The parents discovered what he had done and in order to not lose him to some juvenile prison and never to get out the mother concocted this crazy kidnapping story to deflect the police from investigating him.
Her thoughts were probably along the line of, “I lost one child, I will not lose teh other!”
This cockamamy plan along with the inept and incompetent Boulder police personnel was enough to get the case sidelined up until this new incident with the DNA....................
I don’t think it would be an unknown male then, but you may be right.
They totally messed up that investigation.

There is undetermined dna under the idaho’s four fingernails and unknown blood on the railing,but ho hum..they needed a scapegoat.
