Israel, Hezbollah Agree to Renewed Ceasefire as Iran Peace Talks Postponed

Four Israeli soldiers and dozens of people in Lebanon were killed during fighting, authorities said

TEL AVIV—Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a renewed ceasefire Friday, U.S. and Israeli officials said, after fighting intensified between the two sides and threatened to derail peace talks between the U.S. and Iran.

The overnight strikes marked one of the most serious escalations in Lebanon since a ceasefire in April, after the U.S. and Iran reached an agreement earlier in the week to stop the fighting and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Strikes had mostly subsided on Friday but some clashes continued after the fresh ceasefire took effect at 4 p.m. local time, a U.S. official said.

The White House said Thursday that Vice President JD Vance, who is leading the U.S. negotiating team, wouldn’t be traveling to Switzerland to meet Iranian counterparts as planned. The Swiss foreign ministry confirmed talks were postponed and said it stands ready to facilitate should they resume. It isn’t clear when they might take place.

Iran told mediators that Israel’s strikes were a breach of the preliminary agreement and that they were seeking guarantees that they would end before negotiations could start, according to Iranian and Arab officials. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said the U.S. was directly responsible for the situation and warned of serious consequences for regional security, according to Iranian state media.

In a post on X Thursday, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said he only agreed to the country’s president signing the deal after receiving assurances from him and others that the interests of its militias in the region would be protected. He said Trump agreed to the deal “out of desperation.”

Why? Islam’s proxy Hezbollah should be never-ending target practice for the rest of the civilized world until there is no more.

From the article:

The waves of strikes overnight marked one of the most serious escalations in Lebanon since a ceasefire in April. Israel’s military said four of its soldiers were killed in a Hezbollah drone strike, and that it had killed dozens of Hezbollah militants and carried out more than 150 strikes in response to what it said were repeated violations of the pact.

It was dumb to expect Hezbollah to behave in the MOU.

You swerved into the truth and didn't even realize it.

"Never-ending."

How many "never-ending" wars would satisfy you?

The Muhajadin do not live in the cities. They don't care how many anti-Muhajadin city-dwellers you turn into homeless refugees, kill, starve, dehydrate, etc.

The Muhajadin live in scattered mountain fortresses from which they can peridoically harass the strait at their leisure.

You can't get them all no matter how hard you beat your armchair warrior chest.

It was even dumber to expect it of Netenyahu.

It’d be flat out retarded to expect he, and Israel in general, to lie down for a beating. As much as you’d like to see that.

It appears you only care about islamic terrorists.

It appears you only have a single binary brain cell incapable of complex thought. Either or is all your brain call can comprehend.

Your example of complex thought is “blame the jews”.

Bigotry is far from high brow.

There will never be ‘peace’ in the Middle East. They have been fighting each other, and the rest of the world, seemingly since the beginning of time. Vast fortunes have been made on the ‘conflicts’ over the years. Which is why there will never be peace in the Middle East. Meanwhile, our own nation was destroyed right before our very eyes and we mere citizens are threatened with financial destruction and/or imprisonment if we don’t pay our ‘income taxes’. Curiously, we are at the same time advised by the same bunch of thugs that Social Security, which we have funded all of our lives, well, maybe it just won’t be there when we need it. And we just pretend nothing is wrong, as things continue to get worse and worse and worse. But look! There’s a war in the Middle East!

Your excerpt didn’t include the sentence indicating that it was Hezbollah that broke the “ceasefire” and shot first and Israel was just responding.

Don’t give me that “What? Little ol’ me?”.

Strawman indeed - I have no reason to think otherwise you.

<< It was dumb to expect Hezbollah to behave in the MOU. >>

Or their bosses in Iran. The regime is testing the boundaries to see what they can get away with, using their preferred terrorist proxy. And they’ll continue to test. And Israel will keep their buffer / security zone, as they should.

And you, Captain Strawman, pretend Netanyahu doesn’t need the war to continue so he can stay out of prison.

I can give you a link to Trump’s quote saying exactly that if you wish.

Trump said that in sympathy because he recognized the lawfare used against netanyahu was similar to what was used on him.

So, what is your REAL beef w/fighting Iran?

Do you really expect me to believe you’d be cool w/that if there was a different israeli PM in place now?

Me? It’s not about me. Civilizations need to end Islam’s never ending war mentality. Live free or live as slaves and see all that has come before us, all the great accomplishments destroyed. Our differences are microscopically insignificant compared to our differences with Islamic barbarians.

The COVID shutdown derailed Trump’s first term, Netanyahu’s war derailed the second.

Let Israel and Ukraine fend for themselves.

America First, not Ukraine and/or Israel First.

And there is no winning the Iran war. The people who need killing are ensconced in hundreds of mountain fortresses from which they can harass the strait at their leisure. You want to kill all the people in the cities that have no control over it and pretend you are doing something.
