Major League Baseball warns San Francisco Giants players for writing Bible verses on Pride Night hats
Fox News ^ | June 15, 2026 | Ian Miller

Late last week, the San Francisco Giants hosted their "Pride Night," with the team wearing hats with a rainbow-colored Giants logo.

Several Giants pitchers, in a statement of their faith, wrote Bible verse designations on their hats. One, starting pitcher Landen Roupp, addressed his reasoning after the game, saying that the verse is about representing "God's covenant."

"It's just about God's covenant and a promise that he makes to us that, you know, his faithfulness and his mercy," Roupp said to reporters. "That's just kind of something I believe in, and I stand firm in that, and I'm thankful we live in a country where, you know, we have the freedom to believe what we want ... and express what we want.

"There's no hate at all. It’s just what I stand for, and what I stand in. I believe in God," he added Naturally, that public expression of Christian faith did not go over well with left-wing sportswriters who criticized Roupp and his teammates. Well, those critics will be overjoyed to hear that Major League Baseball has now officially stepped in.

Per The Athletic, an MLB official has now "warned" those players against violating the rules and writing on their cap.

"The writing on the cap violates our rules, and consistent with normal practice, we have warned the players about future violations," said Pat Courtney, MLB’s chief communications officer, in a statement.

The next day, the Giants issued a statement apologizing to the LGBTQ+ community because the Bible verses angered them:

"We understand that the choices by individual players have caused pain and anger to many in the LGBTQ+ community and we are sorry for that.”

“The writing on the cap violates our rules and consistent with normal practice we have warned the players about future violations,” MLB said in its original statement, according to an Associated Press report.

Just WHO in the Giants issued/authored the 'statement'?

WE who??

have caused pain and anger to many in the LGBTQ+ community

Genesis 9:12-16
21st Century King James Version

12 And God said, “This is the token of the Covenant which I make between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for Perpetual Generations:

13 I do set My Rainbow In The Cloud, and it shall be for a token of a Covenant between Me and the Earth.

14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the Earth, that the Rainbow shall be seen in the cloud.

15 And I will remember My Covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters shall no more become a Flood to destroy all flesh.

16 And the Rainbow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the Everlasting Covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the Earth.”

AI Overview:

Three San Francisco Giants pitchers wrote Bible verses (Genesis 9:12-16) on their caps. The players—Landen Roupp, JT Brubaker, and Ryan Walker—scrawled the scripture passage on their rainbow caps during the team’s Pride Night game.

Player Response: Another pitcher, Sam Hentges, opted to forgo the Pride cap entirely and wear the team’s standard cap instead.

Your employer can have rules. Stay or leave if you don’t like them. But they can not have one set of rules for one population and different for another nor discriminate because of religion. If they put something Muslim on hats I’m willing to bet they’d be fine with that

"First of all, as a believer, I would push them to read the Bible,"

Oh! They have, and their favorite verse is:

“For she lusted after her lovers,
whose flesh is as the flesh of donkeys,
and whose issue is like the issue of horses.”

— Ezekiel 23:20 KJV

The MLB Collective Bargaining Agreement for 2022-2026 stipulates that “No alterations, writing or illustrations, other than as authorized herein, are to be made to any part of the uniform.” This line appears to apply the 2026 Official Baseball Rules, which require that “All players on a team shall wear uniforms identical in color, trim and style.”

1.Is there an 'official' uniform?
2. Is management allowed to MODIFY the official uniform if it exists?

I have now...
MLB-Designated Theme Days.

Players are prohibited from wearing items and using equipment consistent with a Major League Baseball-designated theme for a specific game day (e.g., Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, etc.) except for such specific items or equipment that have been approved and communicated with reasonable advance notice to the Players Association and the Clubs’equipment managers.

Violations of this policy will be deemed to be flagrant under Paragraph 4 of Section O, below.

To the extent that a Player desires to wear an item or use equip ment that is not authorized for use on an MLB-Designated theme day, the Player must obtain advance approval from the Commis sioner’s Office, which approval shall not be unreasonably with held, provided that: (a) the color and design of the item or equipment is consistent with that of the particular theme day; (b) no corporate logos or distinguishing marks are displayed on the item or equipment; and (c) the category of item or equipment has been approved for use in Major League games on non-theme days. It is encouraged that the manufacturer of the item or equipment contributes funds to the designated charity of the theme day.

In addition, the Office of the Commissioner shall: make available to Players, if practical, non-logoed items or equipment if the Player wants to participate in the theme day event but does not desire to use a product manufactured by the designated corporate sponsor; and, provide the Players Association with recognition supporting theme day. A player who declines to participate, in whole or in part, in any MLB-designated theme day shall be per mitted to wear any item or use any equipment he would otherwise use/wear during a non-theme day.

And if they had just done this it would be fine.

If they had been in the habit of writing things on their uniform on normal days and it was permitted it would be fine.

If they got permission it would be fine.

Did they get permission?
