“Disclosure Day” may be the most alien film in Steven Spielberg’s catalog.
The really terrific story of UFO info finally being divulged to the world went over as a dud last night at the box office.
The film made just $6.5 million in previews.
Tonight, if the film makes $10 million, and then does the same Saturday and Sunday, it will be a historic flop.
Timing is everything in the movie release world, and this is not a great weekend for a hit. The weather is stormy. (An ironic problem since Emily Blunt plays a metereologist.) The World Cup has begun in soccer. And tomorrow night, the NBA finals with the Knicks and Spurs will draw maybe 25 million viewers.
“Disclosure Day” also has problems at Rotten Tomatoes. Reviews are at 82% from critics, and a low 74% om the audience meter. I’m surprised, because I really liked it. But audiences are demanding more from movies now than ever before. “Disclosure Day,” unlike other Spielberg classics, may not feel urgent.

I want to see Masters of the Universe. I don’t know if we’ll see it in the theater. I’m not real familiar with it as I was an adult when it first came out but the live action version looks like fun.
There was never a Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, or Superman either. But fun movies were made about them.
Lots of obvious truths never get said in this society.
One is that most directors lose their touch as they get older.
For one thing their “art” starts to take over from compelling characters and stories.
Spielberg characters were always rather cold. That got a lot worse.
This has even happened to Kubrick,Scorcese. Clint Eastwood stayed pretty loose late into life.
Same here.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu had a production budget of roughly $165 million. With marketing and global advertising costs factored in, the total budget reached approximately $300 million.
Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day” Flops with $6.5 Mil.
The Steven Spielberg film Disclosure Day cost $115 million to produce, with an additional $80 million spent on global marketing, bringing its total initial investment to $195 million
495 million almost a half a billion dollars to make schlock movies.
Job 1, job done! Hollytrash!
LOL!
That movie that was so hyped, but turned out to be a complete dud, and I think most everyone knew it.
Maybe his desire to poop on Christianity got in the way of his ability to make a good film.
I might have paid for a ticket but after hearing he wanted to shake my faith, no thank you.
Yep, “Critical Drinker’s” review here:

It probably would’ve gotten better attendance if it was a film about real estate transactions.
I respect his opinion
Right......he chose his words carefully......a very calculated man for sure.
Kubrick?
“ClockWork Orange,2001 A Space Odyssey and
Eyes Wide Shut” and I left Kubricks Best out on Purpose.

This UFO/ALIEN as a Movie project has been played Out.
The Attack on Christian Faith was
This Movie’s Nail in the coffin.

Adios Muchacho
CD has never steered me wrong.
And thanks to insulting Christians. What a turd
I saw it last night.
My wife’s review: “It was the worst movie I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Mine was not as harsh. But it was a solid 6 of 10. Surely a Netflix movie for a Saturday night.
But the movie did not dump on religion at all. It was a theme of the movie. A big theme.
As my wife pointed out…”It’s not a documentary. It’s entertainment. “
Just saw the movie.
It was great.
Imho, Spielberg, who is 80, is no longer the director he once was.
The entire “this movie will shock Christians” was to get some buzz for a movie that is a dud.
But no amount of shock can cover up a bad story and a bad movie.
Steven ought to retire
