The Jesus And Mary Chain - Sometimes Always (Official Music Video)
Opinions are like @ssholes
Everyone’s got one
Sorry, I can’t get there. Someone who names a band after Jesus and Mary, and then criticizes EVH? I won’t even watch. It’s bound to be garbage.
No way!
I like both VH and the shoegaze genre
My opinion is I thought some of his work was great, and influenced other people in their work, and to continue to develop some of his styles even further.
ya... just look at the numbers... you came no where close to VHs...
I always liked this guy, don’t know if he was rock.
Dr. Brian Harold May. Doctoral thesis: “A survey of radial velocities in the zodiacal dust cloud” Queen ‘39’.

Sorry, I don’t see the criticism.

“Eddie Van Halen ruined rock guitar”
Reid is so full of shit he is an insult to people full of shit.
This guy isn’t even in the top 500 guitarists as ranked by fans: https://www.ranker.com/crowdranked-list/the-greatest-guitarists-of-all-time
This is like a little league outfielder saying that Babe Ruth sucked.
EVH was a one dimensional player.
Shred, shred, shred. It’s all he had.
No melody, no drama.
Their first album came out a couple of months after I moved to Japan in 1985 and for various reasons didn’t find out about them until years later . If I’d been in NY when the album came out I’m sure I would’ve bought it . Never liked Van Halen or Eddie’s guitar playing style .
The guy admits he can barely play then criticizes the man who literally revolutionized and changed the way guitar is played forever. He's a top shelf a-hole.

When I want to hear a great guitarist I listen to Larry Carlton. Van Halen, no thanks.
I was incredibly excited to see the Jesus and Mary Chain in December 1985! Looking back, it was wonderfully shambolic. At the time, it was less than ten minutes of feedback squalls, fog, cursing and infighting, and someone seemingly trying to mic a snare and floor tom.
I’ve seen them a handful of times since and none were as memorable. I can’t say i disagree with his thesis: EVH spawned countless pale imitations. Same can be said for most other the greats. While I really liked Andy Gill’s style (Gang of Four), I also spent endless hours aping Randy Rhoads…
Cannot knowingly ever heard the Halen guy play, so no matter
mmmm Someone has an unhealthy fixation on Eddie Van Halen.
They guy says he can barely play but contends the other guy ruined guitar playing. gimme a break!
Regadless what you think of VH (or EVH), that's so hyperbolic it's silly.
