DeCarlos Brown Jr, the man who was charged with stabbing Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska to death on the Charlotte light rail, has been found incompetent to stand trial, according to federal prosecutors.
Brown, 34, appeared in federal court on Tuesday morning, where federal Judge Kenneth Bell found ruled that Brown did not understand the proceedings, and could not stand trial. During the hearing, Brown shouted about having "material in his body" and said that he was having a "body emergency" during the brief hearing at the courthouse, per Queens City News.
The judge, as the ruling came down, said, “[I] hope that what happens here will be accurately recorded by professional press and social media." Brown was evaluated at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago through the Bureau of Prison.
After shouting during the hearing, he was escorted out of the room. He shouted more at the judge and asked if the judge had gotten a letter from his mother. The killer will now get medication as well as treatment in an effort to restore his competency for up to four months.
If Brown is not found to be competent at that point, he may be held in federal custody under federal commitment laws. Another hearing may determine is he has to be forcibly medicated. The prosecutors in the case did not present any evidence in the 15-minutes hearing on Tuesday.
“The court found that his prognosis is ‘good’ to be made competent and set a four-month deadline to have that process go forward,” US Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina Russ Ferguson said. “The court ordered that he seek treatment and medication."
The brutal stabbing was recorded on video, and after the killing, Brown was heard on video muttering to himself, "I got that white girl, I got that white girl." He had been sitting behind Zarutska when without warning, took out a knife and started stabbing her in the neck repeatedly.
As Brown wandered through the train after the stabbing, nobody ran to the girl's aid. "Blood visibly drips on the floor as the defendant walks away from the victim. The victim goes unresponsive shortly after the attack. The defendant is the assailant on the video. There appears to be no interaction between the victim and defendant," the police report reviewing the footage stated.

A violently psychotic demon was returned, time and time again, to run amok in society by ‘progressive’ judges. Iryna’s brutal, cold-blooded murder was the result. He should have been neutralized as a threat long, long ago, one way or another.

If you had to meet once or twice a week with a murderer... What would you suggest to save yourself from being his next victim... ‘He’s perfectly sane Judge and can return to society... Trust me’.
It’s a good thing the staute of murder never goes away. When he is supposedly well, they can try him then.
My heart just breaks for this girls devastated parents. This whole case from the horrific murder to today is just another glaring example of what liberal democrat programs will continue to do to this country.
With all due respect, please everyone stop saying “the nutjob shooter” “the crazy guy slashing people in Times Square” or “the insane stabber on the subway.” I know it’s not just FR people, they’re all over. Implies mental defect or insanity.
Then the defense lawyers get the guy off or put into a minimum-security psychiatric facility where the compassionate psychiatrists soon agree he can leave for home with once a month followups to his social worker and shrink.
Guy in his early 20s at a supermarket in Michigan put clear liquid poison from a hidden cuff attached nozzle sprayer onto the salad bar and food bar items a number of times. Several people went to the emergency room with a few near death and hurting for weeks, and it took some days to link they were all shoppers at that place. Then camera showed this was the guilty man.
Trial ended with him actually skipping the psych facility phase and the judge allowing his mother at home to watch him along with once a month psychiatrist visit at his office. No jail time.

Democrat senators hated him. After two tries, the Senate approved him 55-43.

Why do dem judges consistently get approved 90%+, but republican judges get approved with barely over 50%?
Answer? Demoncrats are in this fight to win. Republicans are in this fight to help the dems win.
Pull the transcripts from all of his previous arrests. He was consistently competent when his life was not on the line.
