Wendy's Testing New 'dynamic Pricing': Will You Pay More?

Wendy's announced that it will be testing something calling "dynamic pricing." Will you pay more for the same product?

Dynamic pricing at fast food restaurants means your favorite sandwich or chicken nuggets could cost more -- or less -- depending on what time of day you go. The busier the restaurant is, the more it'll cost you. Dynamic pricing is similar to the surge pricing model used on apps like Uber or Lyft, waltham forest where prices go up and down based on customer demand.

Food industry experts say dynamic pricing could soon take over the entire industry in the next few years as companies look to maximize sporting kc vs portland profits. Wendy's just happens to be the first major fast food chain to give it a test in the American market

In the final quarter of 2025, The Wendy's Company reports that same-store sales dipped a whopping 11.3% in the U.S., capping off a year that saw an overall reduction in sales of 5.6% in the U.S. and 3.5% globally. Right alongside these negative financials, Wendy's stock price took a battering over the same period. Shares were valued at over $16 at the beginning of 2025, but by the start of 2026 they had lost about half of their value, dropping down to just over $8. Evidence of the company's financial struggles extend beyond stock tickers and earnings reports, however, manifesting in ways that affect both consumers and employees.

It seems like a dangerous game. Food is one thing people often adhere on a schedule, whether through habit or social convention. Yes, people may feel like fast food throughout the day, but the majority go at pre-established meal times. Yes, it might be better if they could smooth out the crowds, but for many reasons, including work and school, meal time demand may be more inelastic than suggested.

10+ years ago, I’d choose a Wendy’s to get a burger. Starting about 5 years ago, I stopped going. As you said, “It’s your operations from cleanliness to service and speed that is the problem”!

I had my reasons. I gave you my reasons. You don’t like my reasons. Fine by me. I don’t care. And you shouldn’t. Really GET OVER IT.

Here’s an idea for Wendy’s:

Cut the wages of the staff when wait times go over 5 minutes. Cut wages further is the place is trashy and no one cleans it for over 5 minutes. I used to like Wendy’s, but they drove me away. In some places, my idea would result in staff PAYING to be at Wendy’s...

“favorite sandwich or chicken nuggets could cost more — or less”

I wonder if pricing will actually be less than current pricing at certain times of the day. OR will dynamic pricing only involve higher pricing vs current pricing at certain times.

Wendys was once my favorite. How things have changed. The prices are high. The sizes for the value items are so small, and the hamburger tastes cheap. The one near me also does not honor the 4,6,8 deal that is being advertised on TV. Instead it is 5,7,9. And its not worth it. And if you want a baked potato they almost never have them ready so you can’t get them most of the time. And they don’t keep the dining areas clean like they used to. I could go on.

Last time I went there I decided I won’t be returning soon.

It seems like Wendy’s floated this idea last year and the backlash was enough to cause corporate to say forget it. But it seems to have reappeared. Somebody doesn’t want to give up on the idea before trying it out.

>Is Wendy’s the home of the chilli “finger”?

>I seem to vaguely recall a finger being found in their chilli. Might have been a hoax.

Yep, Finger Chili, Scam artist was in Las Vegas that perpetrated that one. Was bogus, but no Finger Chili for me. No thanks.

I wonder if people will set up price watch websites like they do for gas. Figure out the pattern of price shifts so everyone knows the price is high between 1qam and 2 pm.

There is a huge opening for Beef-fil-a and Pork-fil-a to run restaurants efficiently. Chick-fil-a could handle twice around the building in less time than a two car line at Hardee's.

FFS. Subscriptions for heated seats, gps, higher performance in you vehicles, now another gouge, this time it’s the food service industry. People need to stop going out to eat and stop buying cars! What’s next?

“ prefer our own food or a sit down somewhere but sometimes needs must.”

Often it’s about the same price as the fast food at a sit down restaurant, just order water instead of the $4 soda.

Speaking of lines. Local Walmart self checkout section , 11 registers, only 3 open w/ 1 Walmart employee watching This is a regular thing as of late .

Dollar Tree took out all of their self checkouts and went back to old style register lines, with 1 employee open . Progress !

I don’t know of a Wendy’s in Huntsville, AL.

But...I don’t drive around much. For FF, I go to Sonic, Subway, Zaxby’s and Quiznos, all in my area. And deli items from Kroger.

Their product declined in quality.

I loved Wendy’s in high school when it was new.

Some Wendy’s employees split off and created a rip off called Andy’s.

Its like the airlines. Everyone at Wendy’s will be a ghetto loser who only wants to eat crap when it’s cheap. Just like Frontier.
