Quote of the day by Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison: "Citizens will be on their best behavior, because we’re constantly recording and reporting everything that is going on" — a dire warning on the erosion of privacy

Co-founder of Oracle, Larry Ellison, who serves as the cloud giant's CTO, has been part of the tech industry's furniture for decades now. Looking ahead, he projects the rise of technologies such as AI, drones, and additional monitoring systems.

“Citizens will be on their best behavior, because we’re constantly recording and reporting everything that is going on." — Larry Ellison, September 2024

The modern surveillance state

Ellison's warning came during an hour-long Q&A at an Oracle financial analyst meeting in September 2024.

This world that Ellison describes revolves around AI technologies processing huge amounts of video footage from the explosion of cameras in the streets, cars, front doors, and even police officers. AI will, he added, automatically report issues that it detects while it's analyzing footage captured in real time.

With so much opportunity to scan and detect wrongdoing across society, and AI reducing the processing and decision-making burden, Ellison posited that citizens will, in kind, respond by adjusting their behavior. This vision is eerily similar to that George Orwell described in his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, in which Big Brother oversaw the daily actions of citizens.

AI has computed that 99.87% of your income can be reallocated for poverty relief.

I think it about time we start killing off all these billionaires before they get any more power over us.

AI can’t clean up a voter roll.

If there is going to be that level of surveillance, we need to start with our politicians — body cam on every one of them, with high quality sound. I want to see them discuss deals. I want to see them eat lunch with lobbyists. I want to see them make love and use the restroom. I don’t want to miss a thing. I’m sure our elected officials will be on their best behavior once we get to watch every second of their day.

_________

When he says citizens, that doesn’t include the people who are above the law.

I think it about time we start killing off all these billionaires before they get any more power over us.

There are a lot of people who need to be killed off but won't be.

OTOH, there have been a LOT of people killed off who didn't desire to be.

I notice that they have not exposed the leftists who have been responsible for creating chaos, so he must be warning conservatives that they are the target the system is fixated upon.

I believe there have been a small percentage of conservatives who were aware that conservatives were the targets for decades now. Sadly, far too many still refuse to believe what their eyes are seeing, even when they are being exposed to that reality.

And Larry and Oracle were not or are not part of the problem he warns against?

It’s starting to make sense: The desire to go back to pre- windows. The 90’s were pretty good, 80’s even better and I do miss the 70’s.
We need a digital life altering event to destroy everything. That’s exactly how things got so messed up, the digital world.

Welcome to George Orwell’s 1984.

I have found it interesting that none of the techies say anything about what will be the “data” being stored in the hundreds of planned data centers.

Just think about the amount of data each person generates every day.

A small list would include:
1. Telephone calls/text messages
2. Credit card purchases
3. Automobile
4. Surveillance cameras

And then consider the amount of historical data stored in various computers.

And then consider the amount of written records that have yet to be digitized.

China already has their version of Orwell’s 1984 and they call it Social Credit Score.

Enjoy the ride you youngsters, it will be an “out of this world” experience.

Scott McNealy, chairman of Sun Microsystems, in 1999 said, “You have zero privacy anyway. Get over it.”

And the observation by Oracle CEO Larry Ellison: “The privacy you’re concerned about is largely an illusion. All you have to give up is your illusions, not any of your privacy.”

They call the AI collection of anything and everything "scraping" the internet. What they do not want to discuss is ignoring the concept of private property. Whatever a person produces, essays, research, entire books, is the author's private property. Sometimes they are behind paywalls (individual and subscription). If the AI's algorithm can get beyond the paywall, it will just "scrape up" all of it. Just like many democRATs, AI and the Ai programmers have no conscience or soul to get in the way.
