The USS Cleveland being Littoral Combat I would expect it’s going to be busy escorting Boomers in the neighborhood. Historical Patterns? Yup, I’ll tell you about one. Back in the 70’s I started buying US silver coins both circulated and graded. In those years I typically paid 10X face value. I set aside the 50 centses, dimes and quarters for my Son in his own stash box. When the price of silver recently passed 95$ I checked the numbers and, at that price, even my graded coins were worth more as silver than as collectible. So I bundled up most of the graded stash and sold them.
My Son’s stash amounted to a little under 100$ face value and sold for something over 2,500$. When I sent him the check I explained that he was going to have to pick up the slack for me now. With silver sliding back to about 60 bucks it’s way off its high and if it hits 50$ it will be where I was buying 50 years ago, corrected for inflation, and is time to look at buying back in.
Since I probly won’t have another 50 years to make the same play he’ll have to get organized.
He’s happy with the 2,500 and I expect he’ll buy a motorcycle so it will take a bit for him to get the rythym?
For my own part I converted my silver sales to income producing stocks since I’m way past the need, or desire, to invest for the long term.
For these exact reasons I never was a gold bug. I’ve mentioned here before that when things really go south your gold dealer might not be there to bail you out but a silver dollar will still buy you a bag of groceries.————semper fi

Obama and Killary destroyed Libya on purpose. Gaddafi had been inimacal, but after Reagon did a targeted bombing that killed his sun, he changed. Instead of helping jihad, he previded intel to US and maybe other countries (can’t remember) to help prevent jihad attacks. Of course Obama, being on the side of Muslim jihad, didn’t want this. Between Killary and Obama, they had Gaddifi, as well as Ambassador Stevens, tortured and killed.
I will never forget the two Marines, iirc, who were on the roof of the embassy defending against a huge mob of Moslems, one of which said, “We were sent by Morsi”, then horrible leader of Egypt.
The two Marines (shame I can’t remember their names) radioed for back up, two planes were ready to take off and could have been their in 15 minutes, but the “president” Obama wouldn’t give permission. He wanted all of Libya’s arms so he could arm ISIS, which then occurred. Killary asked her “advisor” (can’t remember his name either), if he knew where Libya’s gold was.
The other reason the deleted bad words criminals wanted to destroy Libya was to have a jump off point close to Europe to destroy it with millions of African and Middle eastern barbarians. The point of Libya is not far from the end of Scicily.
That Reagan raid on Quadafi had a connection right close to my home. I was visiting an old timer neighbor and noticed he had a model F-111 and F-14 hanging from the ceiling over his couch. The old guy didn’t know exactly but his son (retired Air Force) was there helping take care of him. When I asked about the planes the son fessed up that he was flying the F-111 that went after Quadafi. Nailed down the mission details for me.
A few days later I was visiting again and the old guy started failing fast. I carried him to bed and tucked him in. The son stayed with him and he died that night. Kind of burned that whole Quadafi story in my head forever.
That sure would stick the story in your head.
