Similar to the JFK Jr. plane crash, you have to wonder what was done about the wedding, and what an horrific memory that usually joyous event delivered.
Getting drivers like this off the road is important, but at first glance this doesn’t look like an incident that had anything to do with English proficiency. Based on the type of crash and the time of day, this looks like a textbook case of driver fatigue.

Feds are requiring standards for commercial driver’s licenses, including being able to read our signs and knowing the rules of the road. States issue the licenses, and I’d be surprised if, at least one paper, they didn’t have similar standards. Said drivers are often on federal interstate highways. Feds have finally noticed a significant number of drivers flagrantly fail the standards and have officially asks states to review their licensees. Many states complied, found their licenses and took appropriate action. Great, although voters may ask why those states and the prior Feds hadn’t already done their job. But a few states have chosen to defy the Feds, not review their drivers and thus violate federal law. Why aren’t the state decision makers up on federal charges? Why aren’t they being, personally hit with federal wrongful death suit when they refuse to follow the law, directly leading to the deaths? Why, at the least, are those states still getting federal highway funds?

My Mom and her family came here from Israel back over 50 yrs ago as naturalized citizens, they had to learn English in order to become citizens had to pass the written test, now the second you come here you get a CDL without having to understand anything and now this beautiful family is gone who themselves are immigrants

I was just on the phone with Amazon because our order was delivered to the wrong address. Why? It came by Prime and the driver and wife didn’t speak English. Prime is using third party contractors that are hiring non English speaking folk. The driver was from Cuba so not an illegal but not speaking English...how can you read road signs?
