Trump Revives Push for Greenland on Truth Social

President Donald Trump reignited debate over Greenland on Saturday after posting an image to Truth Social showing himself peering over snow-covered mountains toward the Arctic island territory with the caption: "Hello Greenland."

The post comes amid heightened tensions between Greenlanders and the Trump administration following the opening of a new U.S. consulate in Nuuk and a controversial visit by Trump ally and Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry.

HUNDREDS of demonstrators gathered outside the new American diplomatic mission on Friday, chanting "Greenland is for Greenlanders" and protesting what many viewed as renewed U.S. pressure over the strategically located territory.

Protest organizer Aqqalukkuluk Fontain said Greenland’s government had already made its position clear to Washington.

"In a democratic world, no means no," he told the BBC.

Landry’s three-day trip drew criticism after he arrived without an official invitation while diplomatic tensions remain unresolved over Trump’s push for greater American control and influence in Greenland, which is a semi-autonomous territory of Denmark.

During his visit, Landry met with Greenlandic officials and business leaders while also suggesting Greenland could prosper as an independent nation.

The newly expanded 3,000-square-meter U.S. consulate, nicknamed "Trump Towers" by some locals, has become a symbol of Washington’s growing Arctic ambitions.

The Trump administration has argued that Greenland is critical to U.S. national security interests in the Arctic region.

While Trump’s social media post was brief and lighthearted in tone, it underscored the administration’s continued focus on Greenland at a time when many residents remain wary of increasing American involvement.

Oh my friends I'm really diggin' on this subject. We are not British imperialists. Gringos(still) perhaps? The 56k Greenlanders could all be made instant millionaires for $56 billion-chump change. While the locals(HUNDREDS?)protest the siren call it's not the plan. We won't be turning the island upside down like Hawaii. With a million dollars staring them in the face the locals will only have to promise to help keep the Chicoms and Russians out. No need to move in and take over where they have to 'tolerate' us. We keep out. Trump's the man to make the offer.

Trump could sweeten the deal with a yearly stripend from the mining profits unlike the gringos in the banana republics.
As for the HUNDREDS of protesters showing up that’s not too many is it?

Think of it as a offer they(really) can’t refuse.

I tell you man it’s gonna be awesome.

It would be interesting to know where his money comes from.

I like my 50 States, 50 Stars, and the round number of 50.

51 makes us sound off.

And think of the costs of replacing every flag, stationary, etc.

This is a diversion from $4.50/gal gas, illegal immigration, confiscatory tax rates, neocon adventures in the Middle East, and other, more pressing matters.

Come on! Where does it say statehood?

You mean multitasking is not one of his attributes?

I don’t think the media is going to prop DJT’s diversion from reality...unless to point out how irrelevant it is to American lives, values, and present situation.

Wonder if these folks looked down at a couple posts below any mention of Greenland..

Iran is draped in the American flag with a question mark

United States of the Middle East?

I’ve seen something like that with Venezuela draped in the Stars and Stripes, too.

Can’t recall if it was actually on his Truth Social or not..

It might also be interesting to know which money interests are behind Trump's push for Greenland.

Neocon imperialists were never about democracy.

Think of the romanticism of building an empire. Kings do it. Capitalists too. The left? They’re into one worldism. What’s the difference?

The offer will include investment that will create jobs for future generations of Greenlanders. It will ultimately happen “for the children”

Children don’t need a million dollars. We can introduce Greenlanders to Trump accounts.

There would be an element of the slippery slope. With all that money people can get lazy and squander what they have. Drink more. How do you keep them busy when survival is not an issue? Prohibition? Issue 3 day only visas for tourists? That’s all the time they’d need to see everything.

The issue of future generations should be confined to keeping out of trouble, a job for the elders. Upgrade the churches. Schooling should emphasize the joys of capitalism.

You mean multitasking is not one of his attributes?

Oh, he can multitask.

It’s a matter of focus and priorities.

When a Dad is pushing a baby carriage, taking a conference call on his phone, looking at the Amazon app, and catching a glance at the pretty girl crossing the street simultaneously, that’s multitasking..

So is getting hit by the approaching bus.

Greenland really doesn't have much say unless they claim independence from Denmark. As it is, if we buy it from the Danes, it is ours. The Greenlanders don't have the sovereignty to say no.
