Calls Grow for Kristi Noem to Challenge John Thune in 2028 Senate Primary(March 5)
X ^
Posted on 05/20/2026 11:03:14 AM PDT by DIRTYSECRET
After Trump's Thursday announcement praising her border security work, including what Noem called the 'most secure border in American history' and $13 billion in taxpayer savings, online conservatives urged her to primary Thune in South Dakota's 2028 race. Critics label Thune disloyal with a 51% Liberty Score and past bipartisan moves, while figures like radio host Jeff Kuhner predict Noem would crush him thanks to her MAGA ties and home-state popularity. Noem has stayed silent on any Senate bid, and with Thune's $20 million war chest and strong approvals, the talk remains early speculation amid GOP tensions. This story is a summary of posts on X and may evolve over time. Grok can make mistakes, verify its outputs.

Talk of '28 is premature but I'm just plain getting sick of Thune. Noem got herself fired and may be fooling around on the side but does it matter to South Dakotans or the rest of us? Perhaps a groundswell of support and victories in November will make him wake up to what's happening. Between the Cassidy defeat and the fire lit under Cornyn's ass(throw in Massie) he might just see fit to give it up-anoter feather in Trump's cap.

Dunlevy(Alaska gov.) is making plans to challenge Murkowski. Let’s hope it happens.

I think Noem burned her bridges in Republican circles with her antics over the last year.
Yet she was one of the finest governors this country has had in recent memory.
Perhaps the lesson here is that she should go back to her South Dakota roots and stay the hell away from DC — like, forever.

Does Kristy Noem have any electability/ credibility remaining after all those deeply embarrassing stories concerning the two men in her life?
I don’t think so, at least not for a high position.
Let her try back in seven to 10 years. Nothing too soon.

I ask: why didn’t Sara Palin dislodge the Alaska Witch?

The problem with Thune is that he’s not too bright.
He’s currently doing a bad simulation of “McConnell Lite”.
Unfortunately for him the world around him has changed dramatically in the last 48 hours: the Senate is about to become Trump World.
The defensive position staked out by McConnell for decades is going to give way to a robust offensive attack on the squeamish status quo.

Don’t be so confident. If you asked Trump right now who the Senate Majority Leader should be, he’d probably say Lindsey Graham.

Has she gotten the DOJ to cook up fake charges against him yet?

Anyone who has served as a governor would probably find the U.S. Senate an exhausting bore and a waste of time and energy.
When Chris Christie was approaching the end of his second term as New Jersey governor and couldn’t run again, he was asked by a reporter if he’d consider running for a pending vacant seat in an upcoming Senate election. He famously said that if he was a senator he would walk out of the Capitol building at the end of his first day in office and drown himself in the Potomac River.

You are not very good at the prediction business.
You boy, Massie got scalped in KY yesterday.
Noem does have some personal issues.
Trump had some personal issues, as well.
So did Bill Clinton.
But Thune has policy issues that anger Conservative Voters.
Noem can overcome her personal issues,
just as Bill Clinton and Trump did.
Thune cannot overcome his betrayal of Conservatives.
I would love to see that race.
Noem vs Thune
