One American view of China—now increasingly popular on the Left and the Right alike, especially among the hate-Trump crowd—is that the communist colossus will be forever ascendant, with continued astonishing levels of food production, ship construction, and industrial output. In this pessimistic view, China will soon replace America as the world’s predominant power. We are, supposedly, like an exhausted British Empire circa 1945, and China is the new version of the postwar American powerhouse.

Every year the monsoons come and you can watch videos of the walls of the 3-Gorges Dam swaying back and forth. It was made by the Chinese so that means the dam was made on the cheap, and it was rushed, and the materials and workmanship was crap. One of these days, the monsoon is goi g to come and that baby is going down. When it does— goodbye china. It’s one of their many Achilles’ heels.
It now appears that China is starting to show signs of being a paper tiger. They want to be a communist nation, but capitalism is creeping in around the edges and threatens to quench the regime’s “purity.” I have a sneaking suspicion that their goal of bring Taiwan into the fold scares them, because the people of that country have tasted capitalism in its pure form.
Claims that the Three Gorges Dam walls are swaying back and forth refer to viral online videos that were largely debunked as satellite imaging artifacts or misinterpretations of structural physics. While the massive gravity dam is designed to flex slightly under the pressure of 42 billion tons of water, catastrophic warping is a misconception.
Frankly, we should be more concerned about what sprouts up in the coming power vaccuum of China more than the teetering CCP.
hahahaha!!!!!! You don’t factor into your calculus that it was ,”built by the Chinese!”
Brother, there is a reason why there is the saying, “ that’s going to fall apart faster than a Chinese motorcycle.”
While China has long had a high trust society, no small thing in a mostly crooked world, it cannot hope to catch up to a country like the United States with its long tradition of actual freedom .
I am not saying it was poorly done or that it will have structural problems. I am saying the photos of the dam ‘waving’ are bad image reconstruction.
The maniacal laugh and assuming I had to factor any calculus is just silly.
what can I say, Im silly.
Communist China persecutes its growing Christian population , as well as the Uyghurs and Tibetans.
It will not last forever—by the help of God!
oh definitely! In fact, I was gonna post this, but I thought maybe I would get laughed at but, the big reason why I don’t really worry about them is the fact that they are not mentioned in the Bible. In the book of revelation, it mentions the kings of the east, sending an army to Jerusalem to fight in the battle of Armageddon, but that could be lots of other countries that’s about the only mention they get so I don’t think they’re really gonna be a factor in the future
If you do per capita GDP China is 1/6 of the US. So the numbers are even worse. And China’s actual GDP is very suspect.
Not to mention that both India and America and others will have that Gorges dam as a primary target in the event of a war. Upwards of 400 million people would be having to fight for their lives.
