Apocalyptic climate-change predictions were box-office gold for Hollywood but they did untold damage to the public psyche, economy and the average man’s pocketbook.
Now the United Nations’ influential climate change committee has quietly discarded the dire temperature-rise scenarios used in two previous reports predicting horrific consequences of global warming if greenhouse emissions weren’t curbed.
For years, lefty outfits — based on dubious climate science — screamed about the coming climate catastrophe: The New York Times warned that “Climate Change Is Harming The Planet Faster Than We Can Adapt,” “Climate Change Is Speeding Toward Catastrophe” and “A Hotter Future Is Certain.”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) insisted the world would end by 2030 if we didn’t address climate change — by which she meant waste trillions on the Green New Deal and return to Stone Age-style living.
Democrats went full-tilt in accepting the UN-backed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report’s forecasts of a dramatic rise in sea levels, rapidly melting glaciers, global crop failures and even the ultimate extinction of mankind.
But let’s face it: The UN scenarios were overblown from the start, and the left’s climate crusaders hyped them even more.
The newest IPCC report credits renewables, global climate policy and recent emission trends for making the most dire forecasts “implausible.”
But even earlier IPCC reports, when read thoroughly, made clear the looming catastrophe the left predicted was nothing more than a politically useful fiction.
Last year, Dutch researchers refuted projections of calamitous sea level rises by actually looking at data gathered from coastal sites around the globe rather than on models extrapolating from biased assumptions.

It is wrong to say that the global warming cult had science on their side. As Rush pointed out that the whole hoax was based on biased computer models. It is mind blowing that trillions of dollars were flushed down the drain basd on such flimsy evidence. It just goes to show the power of big lie propaganda. Diabolical.

How can one believe anything the purveyors of this tripe issue? They have been caught too many times moving the goal posts, using selected data, and just making things up. They have practically zero credibility.
There are simply too many variables over too long a time frame to make any realistic long term forecasts with regard to Earth’s climate.
The reminds me of an insurance salesman when you just rejected his proposal to put all your retirement money into his high commission policy. He paused and now says you should put at least half your money into the policy for safety. He oversold the product, you balked and he’s trying to salvage as much his commission as he can still get.
Wow they saved us all.

All they ever had were their computer models.....y’know the same computer models that 1) were provably false based on their projections of the last 35 years from about 1990 and 2) which could not even accurately reproduce past recorded actual climate data. Why would anyone believe the projections of these models about the future would be correct when they couldn’t get anything else correct? The whole thing was just a scam to either grift for cash or to support global socialism.
Why do so many of the warming graphs seem to start in the notoriously cold 1940s (think Russian invasion and Battle if the Bulge) instead of the hot 1930s with the Dust Bowl and a large number of temperature records still standing? Just by picking the start point they can choose whether the graph goes up or goes both up and down.
Well gee....if you managed to miss that giant carbon sink that covers 71% of the entire freaking planet, what else have you missed? Why should any of us believe you were any more competent this time when you were building your model?
I have a 200 year old map. Lake Ontario has the same elevation as it did back then.
We have all been too nice and tolerant of the hissy fits these children have presented.
I just wish it would stop RAINING so I can get my tomato and pepper plants in the soggy ground!

Whew....Just got back from Lowes....Not a lot of boards left and ark is only half finished...maybe they’ll have to march one by one...
No matter what happens in the future...There is absolutely no possibility of any scientist on earth can prove that what we did with EVs, windmills, solar changed the Universe in any way. It’s a perfect storm for the climate cult.
