A Frontier Airlines plane struck a trespasser on the runway at Denver International Airport on Friday evening, triggering an engine fire.
The plane was bound for LAX.
Passengers were evacuated three minutes after the trespasser was fatally hit.
According to reports, the unidentified man who was struck on the runway breached a perimeter fence shortly before the plane took off.
One passenger said the plane’s cabin began to fill with smoke.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy released a statement on the trespasser breach.
Late last night, a trespasser breached airport security at Denver Int’l Airport, deliberately scaled a perimeter fence, and ran out onto a runway.
The trespasser on the runway was then struck by Frontier Airlines Flight 4345 during takeoff at high speed. The pilot stopped takeoff procedures immediately.
The Frontier plane was then quickly evacuated while law enforcement and firefighters responded.
Preliminary reports are 12 people were hurt, with 5 taken to the hospital.
Local law enforcement handles airport security and is investigating with support from the @FAANews and TSA.
No one should EVER trespass on an airport.

Dear Denver Enemedia,
Why aren’t you calling this person an, “Undocumented Visitor,” you racists?
86ed by 747?
Guess he wanted to off himself, he got what he wanted
Maybe he/she was a hitchhiker..........
Pilot did a great job aborting the takeoff.
I suspect deep pocket ambulance chasing in some of those cases. Probably Spirit airlines transplants.
The amazing thing to me was the number of passengers on the Frontier flight. With load factors like that, I’ll need to see if the stock is a buy.
LOL...and GROAN!!!
I think she left her carrion luggage on the tarmac.
Beat ‘em or burn ‘em. They go up pretty easy.
I have a premium Delta card (platinum) and every damn thing costs extra. Want to earn miles? Extra $$ Don't want a middle seat? Extra $$ Want to make changes? Extra $$ I've been with them for years, but I am seriously considering NOT renewing when the card is up.
They don't do this (arguably) because they are @$$holes, they do it because they know they can fill damn near every seat.
If it was intentional this is the worst time to lose an engine and no need to go through security.
That’s why I think it’s possibly a terror incident............
50 Points. 10 for the hit, 40 for the highly implausible circumstances.
One headline ID’d the stiff as a pedestrian.
The video of the evacuation of passengers who were bringing their carry on bags was disgusting. This is an evacuation of a burning plane and these morons are blocking the aisles and slowing the exit. They should be arrested
Scott Kirby is an unashamed Drag Queen
“One passenger said the plane’s cabin began to fill with smoke.”
If the crew was operating the air conditioner packs at the time of takeoff and the person was ingested into an engine, this makes sense. If the airplane is light and the performance is good enough, they operate the air conditioning during takeoff for passenger comfort. Denver is a high-altitude airport, but passenger planes are generally not performance-challenged, compared to heavier cargo aircraft.
Bleed air from the engine is mixed with ambient air to produce the conditioned flow of air through the cabin air gaspers (on the panel above your seat, next to the light).
Even a medium-sized bird strike on the turbine might result in a smell through the gaspers - if there was smoke coming out of the gaspers then it’s a near certainty that the smell was caused by the burning flesh of the trespasser.
