Pay attention. This wasn’t the normal DEI, Didn’t Earn it.
This was the very unusual, DID EARN IT, by the female trainer.

Fully agree

You CLEARLY have never been around horses in your entire life. They LOVE racing, and the nonsense you spew about being drugged up and whipped is just silly. First, they are tested for every drug combination known to man. Secondly, it is a twelve hundred pound animal. Just as a toddler can't hurt an adult with their teddy bear, you cannot significantly injure a horse with a small leather strap. Nor do they want to. The jockeys love and adore their horses, and would never want to harm them. To a horse, it is a pinch on the ass from a lover, not a two by four by an angry Amish person.
Surreal because you look at the numbers and think, how hard can it be?
I really enjoyed going to the Kentucky Derby.
The only part I didn’t like was trying to go across in front of the tunnel where the limousines came out.
60 miles per hour and no slowing down for pedestrians.
The real show was in the infield.
Thoroughbreds LOVE freakin’ racing. They know they are epic track gladiators and revel in the challenge. Our off-track, Watson, kicked azz on dirt and is a spectacular family member. Our prior before him, Mickey, didn’t make the cut for the track, but was ridden in training by a triple crown jockey and went on to glory in Hunter-Jumper and Dressage (FTR - not their competition names). He passed at 29 closing out retirement life with long trail walks with the wife sprinkled with occasional charging/chasing off overly bold coyotes.
Granted, there is a vast quantity of people who suck at horses, including a lot who seem to know their crap on the face of it. If you “get” the underlying relationship that you are engaging with a prey animal that MUST be confident that you are not going to “get us eaten” you will forging a bond with an animal that will carry you into battle if called upon.
I always wondered why they don’t have female jockeys. It would be a lot easier to find small, light women than men.

Want to explain what happened with the horse with the broken back in Britain? Why horses have to be put down at so many races? And yes, husband has a horse farm that boards hunter jumpers, so I have been around horses.
And so why do the rules limit how many times you can hit a horse if it can’t be hurt by a whip? And why test for drugs if drugs aren’t a huge problem?
😂
And one of the horses in the Ky Derby had to be “destroyed” due to breaking two ankles during the race.
