The first leg of horse racing's famous Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby brings out the top horses, owners and jockeys, celebrity appearances and bold fashion statements. Here's a look at the favorites and longshots, and who showed up to Churchill Downs in Louisville for the 152nd running of the "fastest two minutes in sports."

Andy Beshear giving a political stump speech rather than just congratulating the Derby winners, marking the economic success of policies he opposed and said could not work, passed into law over his vetoes repeatedly every single year.
It actually goes on for weeks - the Kentucky Derby Festival is kicked off by Thunder Over Louisville.
If you had just bet some on that third place horse to show, that would have been a good payoff. 70-1
If there was any doubt that Beshear is running in 2028, that doubt just went away.
Well, Renegade finished second. Not bad.
Then why did you click on this thread?
Sickening, wasn't it? I wanted to reach through the TV and slap him.
To tell you all that. Horses don’t want to be drugged up and whipped to provide betting opportunities for people.
You should join PETA (if you haven’t already) and go over to DU.
Would have won about $60. $20 W-P-S in Renegade with Irad Ortiz in the saddle. One of my most fun days ever going to with 2 Kentucky friends I worked with in the steel mill. It was 1971 the year Canonero II won the Derby. I had just turned 21. We took a cooler full of beer into the Derby infield. We had slept in sleeping bags on the sidewalk the night before just to be early in the grounds. If you’ve never gone, I highly recommend it. I used to work around horses. My uncle Al (RIP) was a harness driver/owner.
I saw Beshear w/closed captioning and wondered why in hell is he auditioning for Prez. Sick.
I suspect only Beshear lovers will accept it, but that leaves about 350 million of us who think it was waaaay out of place, in very poor taste.
Golden Tempo had a female trainer, supposedly.
She was estatic. She said that was a message for “all women everywhere” and that women can do anything they set their minds to, which is a lie.
The “all women everywherea” is redundant, since “all” includes “everywhere.” But the feminist always say that, the intensifier “everywhere” makes it so much more dramatic.
My bride worked journalism in Fredericksburg VA as a kid and got to interview Secretariat. Unforgettable...
.....although Secretariat didn’t have a lot to say
Good for her.
She was estatic. She said that was a message for “all women everywhere” and that women can do anything they set their minds to, which is a lie.
That comment is one of the main reasons why Trump won in 2016.
SHE IS THE FIRST FEMALE TRAINER IN 152 YEARS TO WIN......
GIVE HER A FAIR SHAKE.
THEY ARE HEAVILY TESTED FOR ALL SORTS OF DRUGS.
Hey, boy! Play somethin’ peppy on that skinbox...
Yankee Doodle went to town...
Yankee Doodle?!?
Bang! Bang! Bang!
His wife’s presence in the background while they interviewed the owner was just vomit-worthy.
Here’s a kicker for you. Slick Newsome can’t make it because most of the country hates California, but Kentucky (Beshear) is a little like Georgia back in the day (Carter).
Beshear might go forward and maybe even win the nomination.
I’ve never seen him in context before. A small man, at least in his shoulders. And his wife’s lips unnatural augmentation. She’s just awful. Reminds me of Joe and Jill in a way.
Could be. I’ve never seen, in person, a race after Derby. But I’ve always known that have them.
