Small government has been a staple of American politics for decades, but that staple is finally coming loose among younger generations like Gen Z. Why?
Why are Generation Z, Millennials and others REJECTING small government? This isn't just about Gen-Z being "far right," generation-z is seeking political change in the face of instability - a return toward order, tradition, security, and real power.

The biggest problem I see is that early-on the video categorizes big government progressive statists such as Richard Nixon and George W. Bush as "small government"
However, all of that aside I do agree with the premise. Every bit of evidence I see tells me Gen Z does not embrace limited government. Gen Z are overwhelmingly government oriented.
And how could they not be this way? They probably know how to spell the word "c-o-n-s-t-i-t-u-t-i-o-n" but their schools never taught them anything of substance about the Constitution. Well, except that the Constitution is racist the schools taught Gen Z all about that one in their CRT 1619 classes. So the indoctrination has worked exceedingly well.
Gen Z are typically seen as entitled which is true and as you expect, the entitled want things like universal healthcare, even those Gen Z who are "seen" to be "on the right" desire universal healthcare. And that is just one item.
Universal healthcare means that the patient will have to wait 9-12 months before they get any medical procedure performed.
They will be dead before they get treatment.
America abandoned small government decades before Gen Z was born. Oh sure we’ve had politicians that TALKED about small government. But NOBODY actually tries to make the government smaller. If anything Gen Z is simply acknowledging that the government will never shrink so there’s no reason to talk about it.

Tell the Coming Generation
Psa 78:1 A psalm of Asaph. O my people, listen to my instructions. Open your ears to what I am saying,
Psa 78:2 for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past—
Psa 78:3 stories we have heard and known, stories our ancestors handed down to us.
Psa 78:4 We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about His power and His mighty wonders.
I do generally agree, America did abandon the concept - but I mean our voters though.(maybe that is what you meant too)
The last gasp of American conservatism was the Tea Party, and it was our guys (!!!Our Guys!!!) who decided “no we don’t really want this after all”
To that extent, it can be said that we abandoned Gen Z and because we FA now we get to FO.
The FAFO is really gonna hurt this time.
They don’t know what small government is
Fair point. For example I give you the mayor of Baltimore’s staff. Increased this year by 30 people to 130+ total. That is alot of patronage that BOTH parties love so much.
Tea Party was a dog and pony show. It was all a lie. “We’re outsiders, we’re gonna be different”, but they were all politicians, they just hadn’t held federal office. If they’ve got an R after their name, or D after their name, they stand for nothing.
Just a reminder that MOST of Gen Z is under 22 years old. They haven’t really experienced life all that much.
And, they haven’t been brainwashed by their idiot teachers.
Donald Trump does!
Why? Because propaganda works, that’s why.
What small government?
Oh sure we’ve had politicians that TALKED about small government. But NOBODY actually tries to make the government smaller.
Donald Trump does!
Universal healthcare is fine when you break a bone or get the flu.
But if you have a suspected tumor in you pancreas, an additional 3 month wait to get a second level diagnostic like an MRI or Endoscopic Ultrasound you probably wouldn’t be actually dead….but you will get a horrible diagnosis.
Our system isn’t perfect, but the results for horrible diseases is 10-15% better. It doesn’t seem like much…until it’s you.
No he doesn’t. DOGE was a lie. Now he’s talking about bailing out a 3rd rate airline. He’s only made the government bigger.
I'm all ears for new ideas which have any sort of mass effect and are not crucially expensive.
Ideas that I can accomplish in life or behind my keyboard. That I can actually, personally do. Not just "somebody should do something" nebulous proclamations.
It takes some patience but I can reach a mass audience with my public domain audio books. I have no other ideas.
Nobody does. It hasn’t been tried in well over a century.
I’m all ears for new ideas which have any sort of mass effect and are not crucially expensive.
You want a magic bullet. It is going to take a generation to change things, one person at a time.
Ok, I am only partly joking.
Many in Gen-Z are terrified of making the wrong move because anything can "Ruin Your LIFE". They are experts at making mole hills into mountains and completely incapable of dealing with choice.
Going to a unfamiliar restaurant is a traumatic event because what if they can not find something they like? The concept of, "you stand up and leave" is not even on their radar.
I hear them stress over what brand of peanut butter to buy. It is peanut butter. Even the bad stuff is pretty ok with enough jelly and you just do not buy that brand in the future.
But this is why they are fine with big government telling them what to do. When you have no choices you do not have to fear making a mistake. You just do as told. And they are good at that. As long as the person telling them is an "expert" (or on TikToc) they will do and believe almost anything.
And that is what is going to make them dangerous.
What’s really happening is disillusion.
People 35 and under (and over…) saw a chance to recapture America in 2015, and then in 2024. They hoped Trump would return focus to America, stop forever wars, and protect life, liberty and property. A sliver of this was limited govt.
The promise of change and improvement accompanying the escalator trip in 2015 has been replaced with “same as the old boss.” This escapade in Iran has shot any prospect of limited government that accompanies a focus on domestic issues to smithereens.
The other driving factor behind disillusionment is the advent of the other TDS - Trump Devotion Syndrome. Any dissent from “Iran is THE biggest problem and we gotta bomb ‘em” or saying that Kash Patel is a mediocre FBI head, or even hinting that Hegseth is a dope for reciting the Gospel According to Tarantino stirs up the flip side of the leftist TDS coin. Heck, suggesting that maybe $200bn could be NOT borrowed and spent on Iran makes you a pariah.
The left plays the long game better. They build generations of leftists around spending other people’s money on “feel good” pork.
We had a chance with the Tea Party and Trump to usher in a limited government return to normalcy; it’ll be gone if this isn’t turned abound asap.
