I have tried to go to Facebook on both my computer and my phone. Both are asking me to either use Passkey or click for another method of verification in order to verify my account. When I clicked for another method all I get is a BLANK screen. Okay, after a few tries I figured this would mean having to download another app but I did it just to get into Facebook. So what happened? The downloaded app said I would get a 3 day free trial and then I would be charged. Um, no thanks. Oh, and is Facebook making money from this scam?

p.s. I just tried again and I am getting an error message. Has anybody else tried this?
I’m still hoping someone comes up with an alternative platform that is free and easy to use.
Wouldn’t know. I haven’t been on facebook in over 10 years now.
As far as I’m concerned, a social media site doesn’t meed (and shouldn’t be given) sensitive personal information like your phone number or drivers license number. It’s just a glorified website. Aside from the egregious sale of personal information that they do, they can also be (and have been) hacked.
They are probably nerfing the pass-key on purpose to get you to use some other form of 2FA to get more of your personal data. /social conspiracy theorist
The thing that comes to mind is that Zucker lost so much money on the laughable META that he is now using authentication passkey logins in which you have to PAY for the passkey in order to make up for some of his massive losses.
I’m kind of hoping this Facebook scam appears soon on my Class Action Newsletter in the near future. That newsletter lets me know of upcoming class action lawsuits and how to submit applications for them if they apply.
I wonder if FB deleted you.
Don’t ask why they would do that. It’s been done tens of thousands of times.
If Facebook requires me to use a passkey, then I’m done with it. I’ll (hopefully be able to) delete my account and move on.
Passkey is housed on your phone, not Facebook.
It is an Android function.
Not that I know of. They say that they are trying to authenticate me. And for the privilege of being authenticated I have to pay for a passkey to allow that to happen.
What app?
Mrs rktman’s seems okay. But she probably hasnt logged off in years. 😂👍
I got a password authenticator that pops up but it is a 4 digit number. Then one they are showing on Facebook is 6 digits.
I believe it is part of Google. (Android)

I’ve been wrong before, but I think that is the case.
I know the app asks you if you want to use a pass key which I click NO, same goes for whatsapp, they ask the same I just decline it..I use facebook more on my PC than anywhere else
Six months ago FB shutdown my account and told me I had to set up facial recognition to regain access.
I have not been back on since.
A few weeks ago I got an email saying my account has been permanently turned off for lack of response.
I am not going to give FB rights to my image or give them the power to track my every move by use of my face.
The government can coerce me into giving them these abilities but I will not willingly give a private corporation that ability.
I loved keeping up on the activities of my family with FB. But it is not worth it to me to surrender my privacy.
My FB is glitchy and freezes all the time. I use it for church, so I will not be leaving any time soon.
Well, I finally got into FB but it was a hassle.
I look at stuff on Facebook everyday and I’m fully aware that it would be better if I never looked at it again.
Passkeys are legit and should not cost you a dime. It’s built into my Mac OS. I can switch between an SMS code verification, email verification and a passkey. The passkey requires I open an “authenticator” app to get the code. I have two authenticator apps on my phone, but I use the Google authenticator app the most. It is easy to set it up. Then, you open the app, find the site you want to visit, and get a 6-digit code. It’s essentially a one-time, short lived (60 seconds) secondary password.
