Palmer Luckey developed Occulus:
The Oculus brand, now part of Meta's Reality Labs, offers a diverse lineup of virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) headsets, including the standalone Oculus Quest series and the PC-tethered Oculus Rift. The Oculus Quest line, launched in 2019, introduced all-in-one VR by eliminating the need for a PC, featuring inside-out 6DOF tracking, Oculus Touch controllers, and an Android-based operating system that runs games wirelessly.
Palmer Luckey was 16 years old when he built his first prototype headset (the PR1) and 19 years old when he officially founded Oculus VR in 2012.
He began experimenting with virtual reality designs at age 16, purchasing old hardware and reading patents to understand existing technology.
His first prototype, the PR1, was completed at age 17 in his parents' garage in 2010.
Luckey launched the company Oculus VR at age 19, which was subsequently acquired by Facebook (now Meta) for $2 billion two years later.
He then worked for Facebook, until he was fired in 2016 for contributing 10K to a pro-Trump group during the 2016 election cycle.
While being a billionaire, Palmer Luckey could have just sat back & enjoyed his wealth, but instead he decided that wasn't who he was so he created a new company called:
Anduril Industries after being fired from Meta in 2016. He co-founded this defense technology company in April 2017, a year after his departure from Meta, with a mission to modernize the US military through autonomous and AI-powered systems.
This TED speech is about him talking about the military, which is very interesting, at least for me, so I thought I would share it. A freeper informed me that a friend;s daughter married this brignt young man, and is now Mrs. Lucky Luckey.
It's the youth such as this that inspires hope for this nation. Perhaps he will one day lead this nation back to sanity:

Autonomous weapons.
No it’s not. It’s a reality that coulf very easily happen, especially if Iran were allowed to possess weapons. No one has ever threatened Tran, but Iran has threatened mutilple nation’s sice it came under the control with its current government fromation.
I listened to Mike Rowe’s interview with him. He’s an interesting guy for sure. I’m sure he causes some sleeplessness for execs at places like Raytheon and Lockheed-Martin. Anduril looks like it could be very disruptive for them.

The problem I have is the word “world”
Iran perhaps with the token aid of Russia and China would be fighting the USA and the Gulf states + Israel.
The Euro weanies are not really involved simply because they lack the capability to project in a meaningful way.
Russia is on her ass and absolutely not capable of projecting much beyond press briefings. China has lots of fish to fry and might see (is seeing) that dealing with the stronger customer base in America and the Gulf is the better way to go.
All of the world on the Pacific rim would not be involved. Ditto South Amerika and Africa.
