A North Carolina woman played a prank on her convicted felon boyfriend that made him believe she cheated on him - but it backfired horribly after he took her seriously.
Shyhied Ivey, 20, shot at a packed car with five people inside on April 5 in Charlotte after his girlfriend, Nevaeh Covington, decided to pretend that she was romantically involved with another man, according to an affidavit reviewed by the Daily Mail.
Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to Columbus Circle after being dispatched over a report of assault with a deadly weapon just after midnight.
Covington told police that she and four others - Gernala Covington, Quimya James, Damion Rann, and Nadiya Cousart-Thompson - were at Camp North End, a local shopping mall, getting food together earlier that night, according to records.
She and Rann then decided to 'play a prank' on Ivey, her boyfriend of five months, which involved Rann calling Ivey and 'pretend to be cheating' with Covington.
After relaying the message to Ivey, the five friends drove away, but soon realized they were being followed by Ivey in another car, as Covington had shared her location with him through Find My iPhone, she told police.
An irate Ivey, who was arrested six times in 2024, then called Covington and started 'driving recklessly attempting to get them to pull over' while appearing to fire a handgun into the air multiple times.

Just wait until word of this spreads in the ordnung. Shyhied, Nevaeh, Gernala, Quimya, Damion, and Nadiya woin’t be able to show their faces at the next barn raising.
When we first moved here, we heard a similar story. A group of college students staged a “prank kidnapping” at a local bistro. An armed citizen stopped the kidnapping with lethal force. But this could have just been a urban myth.
Reminds me of a line in the movie, “Bronco Billy.”
“I came home and found my wife in bed with my best friend, so I shot her.”

Nevaeh Covington, the girlfriend, is pretty stupid. Let’s make the felon jealous and humiliated for a few laughs. I bet she was high when she thought that one up. Also gun control laws don’t seem to be working in NC.
Shooting is always their first response to any disagreement or something they don’t like. No impulse control at all. The law of the jungle kicks in and its katy bar the door after that.
