A maniac slashed three elderly people with a machete in an unprovoked attack and was fatally shot by cops at Grand Central Terminal Saturday morning — causing mayhem that sent commuters fleeing the iconic station, police and witnesses said.
An 85-year-old man and a 65-year-old man were slashed in their heads on the 4, 5, 6 subway platform at at 9:50 a.m., police said. A 70-year-old woman was also slashed, but it wasn’t clear where on her body, cops said.
Two NYPD detectives confronted the 44-year-old and told him to drop the machete.
He ignored their commands and was shot three times, according to police sources.
The victims were taken to local hospitals in stable condition, cops said.
The slasher was taken to Bellevue Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later, cops said.
He wasn’t immediately identified but was known to the NYPD and had numerous prior arrests, including for menacing with a sharp object, police sources said.
The two officers, who were working overtime in the subway, were also taken to the hospital for treatment of tinnitus, cops said.

Yep. Ain’t multicultural diversity a wonderful and enduring concept?
Its time to bring back public hangings
Not out of anger, and not for revenge - but to simply take control of our cities, and make them safe for normal citizens.
It would, in fact, be the most humane policy. If law enforcement became serious, and demonstrated it, criminals would immediately abstain from crime (yes, even the psychotic ones are rational in that regards) and society would benefit greatly.
Oh, Boo Bop...
The photo provides a clue.
“He wasn’t immediately identified but was known to the NYPD and had numerous prior arrests, including for menacing with a sharp object, police sources said.”
—I can identify him as one of Mamdani’s protected people.
People can take selfies in front of them.
Photos of the resin-incased perps can be added to the back of fare cards as a reminder to riders.

They always have to say “unprovoked attack”.
Otherwise someone could think a victim said a naughty, forbidden word or was not subservient as someone bumped against them on the train. As if the victims have be justify themselves. Their lives worth nothing if they said something not quite right to someone.
Excellent point.
Little known fact. Timothy Leary was deaf in one ear because of a gunfire incident during his military service 1943- January, 1946.
Great John Wick scene of getting new clothes and slip resistant shoes in case of slimy floors after fighting started.
RE: “...multiple prior arrests...”
During a long ago era in NYC, in an interview about crime going way down under Giuliani, the police spokesman said: “The main reason for it being down is some offenders used to commit 20, 30 or 50 major crimes and stayed on the streets. Now many of them are in prison with mandatory sentences. So they aren’t available to find more victims.”
