Eric Swalwell’s campaign falls apart as ex-staffer levels horrifying sexual assault claim

Staffers for Eric Swalwell — a Democratic favorite in the California governor’s race — are reportedly fleeing as a disturbing claims emerged he sexually assaulted a young former staffer.

At least four people have “abruptly” quit the East Bay congressman’s flailing campaign as a disturbing claim emerged that he sexually assaulted a young female staffer in 2019, including when she was too intoxicated to consent, Politico reported.

That includes Courtni Pugh, a top advisor in charge of Swalwell’s organized labor strategy, and multiple other staffers.

The campaign departures come alongside a troubling report in the San Francisco Chronicle alleging that the East Bay rep had nonconsensual sexual contact with a former staffer who worked for roughly two years at Swalwell’s district office in Castro Valley starting in 2019, when she was 21 years old.

Swalwell, who was 38 at the time, sent her explicit Snapchat messages that included snaps of his genitals and “a video of himself sitting on an airplane, rubbing his penis through his pants,” according to the Chronicle.

The unnamed woman alleged that in September 2019, she went for drinks with Swalwell and become heavily intoxicated, remembering nothing for the rest of the evening but waking up the next morning in Swalwell’s hotel room with the feeling that she’d had vaginal intercourse.

"Roofies" is a slang term for Rohypnol (flunitrazepam), a powerful sedative drug that belongs to the benzodiazepine class. It is frequently referred to as a "date rape drug" because it has been used to incapacitate individuals by being secretly slipped into their drinks. Key Facts About Roofies (Rohypnol): Effects: The drug acts as a central nervous system depressant, causing intense sedation, muscle relaxation, reduced inhibition, and, crucially, anterograde amnesia.

It is the prefered date rape drug as the victim does not even remember what happened with certainty.

I didn’t believe Blaisey. Her testimony wasn’t convincing. She had no proof. Accusations aren’t proof.

But, like I wrote earlier, this couldn’t happen to a nastier slimeball

Okay so I was wrong.

I said that the dems would boot some candidates in the CA Governor election, and it would have to be before the Jungle Primary in June.

However, I didn't expect Swalwell to be the sacrificial lamb --- not because I like him more, but because of his DC connections.

Oh well, whatever.

Now I'm waiting to see if it works for the CA dems. They assume Fartwell voters will switch over to Porter or Steyer, but what if they go to Bianco or Hilton?

Then what?

You are correct. The party knew what he was and did not care. Swalwell became a liability to the California Democrat Machine when the truth started dribbling out. The California Democrat Machine is cutting his throat. He like Joe Biden have become a liability, thus under the bus you go.

“Swallwell’s campaign falls apart” because there are too many Democrats in the jungle primary, and the Democrat establishment has chosen him to throw under the bus.

The media and the FBI let him get away with claiming that he was essentially working undercover when he was banging Fang-Fang.

He was doing it for the country, he would lead you to believe.

The same FBi Director that some five years after the determination wouldn’t say that it was Hunter’s laptop, and the Republicans let him get away with it.

Swalwell is a lot like Hunter and the same people protected both of them, in some cases.

Lindsey Graham and Thomas Massie were in love with Chris Wray.

Even Pelosi’s now telling him to drop out.

So now I want him to stay in!

Whatever wreaks the most havoc and does the most damage, that’s what I want.

They knew more women would come forward before June. He’s been doing this since college.

They just listened to trusted insiders and knew that a shitstorm was on the horizon.

They don't care. Until now. They want Katie Porter to be the next Governor of California.

I understand that all benzos can cause anterograde amnesia (inability to form new memories) as you stated. So, he may have used Xanax, or even Valium, or ativan....yikes... Plus if he slipped those drugs into alcoholic beverages for the girl against her will...this guy was a monster. I knew he was a jerk, but didn’t realize he could be a pathological criminal. Could they charge him with attempted murder? I have a strong feeling he is borderline schizo.

This may be a twofer for the dems. Namely thin the field, and get rid of an out of control political liability.
But ALL democrats need to reassess their parties viability. How do they support people like him? Why would anybody support a party who has people like him, or Anthony Weiner, Katie Porter, etc?

He’s toast. There’s video of him floating around on Twitter that makes him look like a complete sleaze-bag. I don’t think even California can tolerate him.

Not surprisingly, Swalwell has been beating the drum to release the Epstein files and claimed that Trump was covering it up to protect himself and his friends. Then, Swalwell pivoted and spent $700k on legal action to prevent his Fang-Fang files from being released.

This hypocrisy and corruption must be stopped.

I think you’re on to something there. In fact, I’ve been thinking the same thing. They will thin this down to a couple of candidates one way or the other. They can’t buy Steyer off, so he has to stay in. They might have to go with Steyer against Mrs. Potatohead or Matt Mahan. We’ll see.

All benzodiazapems can induces this amnesia dependent on dose. This particular drug is very potent and effective at this. Thus the preferred rape drug that easily dissolves into a drink. It is effective at low dose. Other drugs in this class could do the same at higher doses but risk harm and death. Thus are not used unless the perp is an idiot.

FTA:
“Swalwell forcefully denied that he’d ever had a sexual relationship with a staffer at a town hall event Tuesday.”

Did he claim that it was on a Wednesday, instead?

I reposted last year regarding the Virginia 2019 election, when the Democrats were all for calling for Democrat candidates to step down when they believed another Democrat would take the seat, but once it became apparent that a Republican would become Governor, all calls for resignations stopped.

Character and fitness for office became secondary to party control of the government.

That's why the Democrats will always be about situational ethics, which makes their moralizing about Republicans fall on deaf ears.

This is shaping up to be a repeat of the Ralph Northam / Justin Fairfax / Mark Herring situation in 2019.

Northam was mid-term in 2019 when a college yearbook photo showed either him or the person next to him wearing blackface at a costume party. The other person was dressed in a KKK costume. Northam denied that he was either of the people in the photo, after admitting that he was one of the people in the photo the day before.

Calls for Northam to resign began, including from his Attorney General Mark Herring and the state's Senator Tim Kaine. However, a few days after calling on Northam to resign, Herring himself was forced to admit that he, too, dressed in blackface while in college. This shocked the Virginia Democrats, and they at first were frozen in inaction regarding how to react to both the Governor and Attorney General admitting that they wore blackface in college.

While these scandals were brewing, Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax was preparing for Northam to resign and ascending to the Governor's position when he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman, Vanessa C. Tyson, an associate professor at Scripps College and fellow at Stanford University, a hotel at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. Fairfax denied the sexual assault, but not the sex. He said it was conventual and that he was being targeted as a black man about to become Governor of Virginia.

However, five days later a second woman came forward, Meredith Watson, claiming that Fairfax raped her in 2000 when they were both students at Duke University. Calls for Fairfax to resign began.

Now, this is where the hardball Democrat Party politics came into play. The line of succession in Virginia is Governor -> Lt. Governor -> Attorney General -> Speaker of the House. At the time, the Speaker was Kirk Cox, a Republican. If Ralph Northam, Justin Fairfax, and Mark Herring all resigned over these scandals, a Republican would become Governor just as the 2020 primary season was beginning. This was unacceptable.

Therefore, nobody resigned, everybody toughed it out, and nobody took responsibility for anything. Northam was term-limited, Herring ran for reelection and lost to Republican challenger Jason Miyares, and Fairfax ran for Governor and lost to Terry McAuliffe.
