Earth's Population Has Surpassed The Planet's Capacity, Study Suggests
ScienceAlert ^ | 7 April, 2026 | Jess Cockerill

The human population has already grown too large and demanding for Earth to sustainably support at current consumption levels, a new study warns.

Based on more than two centuries of population data, a team led by Corey Bradshaw of Flinders University in Australia found humanity is living well beyond the bounds of what our planet can support long-term.

Ecologists describe the ability of an environment to sustain a species' population as its "carrying capacity". It's an estimate of the number of individuals from any given species that can survive long-term, based on the resources at hand and the rate at which those resources regenerate.

Around 12 billion is the absolute maximum estimated carrying capacity, but it's far from the optimum at our current levels of resource consumption, which Bradshaw and team calculate to be 2.5 billion.

Maybe the ‘data team led by Corey Bradshaw of Flinders University in Australia’ could help by offing themselves?
They can just go jump in the lake.

If these creeps were to make this big announcement, and then drink their hemlock, I would have more respect. I still wouldn’t believe them.

They are like the jihadists who always get someone else to blow themselves up.

A new study found. BS. There is now an official study for every conclusion anyone wants to make. The earth had several million buffalo. Then that got a lot smaller. In fact Humans have killed off a huge amount of mammals. So there really aren’t more now. The earth can/has support a huge variation of life. Far more than exists now.

Why are they saying this now?

That's an easy one. Just as during the Apollo missions, gorgeous photos of the beautiful Earth are being sent back by Artemis and being marveled at by millions. This gives the Left a chance to take out their dusty old '60s and '70s propaganda manual and begin unleashing guilt-inducing sob stories about how humans (especially, of course, USA humans) are dooming our beautiful planet to whole new generations.

Just as they pulled out their dusty '60s and '70s "Racism" manual during the Obama years, and especially during "Black Lives Matter," they know the US has a whole lot of low-info people who'll do their bidding, if they feed them enough emotional BS.

The Left has nothing new to offer, at all, but they're getting a lot of mileage out of dragging up all their decades-old gaslighting.

In the 60's and 70's the libs told us it was a virtue to have smaller or no families. I guess when they found that meant their power of numbers were falling, they decided they'd have to start importing more of their own.

Our capacity to grow food expanded with modern mechanized farming driven by the oil rich Middle East supplying oil, sulfur and fertilizers. We might be taking a huge step backward tomorrow that will severely harm those critical inputs to growing and distributing food.
