Nurses from the country's largest nurses union, National Nurses United (NNU), will join rallies across the United States as part of the March 28 No Kings protests. Nurses continue to condemn the Trump administration's authoritarian politics and call for the abolition of ICE, an end to Trump's war in Iran, and demand what's collectively needed for a healthy future for our society.
"Nurses will continue to take to the streets to protect our neighbors and protest the fascist politics Washington is trying to force on everyday people at home and abroad," said Mary Turner, RN and NNU president. "We will stand with our communities nationwide to demand an end to ICE invasions in the United States and an end to U.S. invasions in countries like Iran. We can stop a sick future built on harm now if we come together to build a healthy future based on care."
As the most trusted profession in the country, NNU nurses remain leading voices in health care, the labor movement, and progressive politics. In recent months, NNU has condemned Trump's war on Iran and blockade on Cuba, organized dozens of vigils and actions to memorialize nurse Alex Pretti and all killed by ICE, and held town halls introducing our Vision for a Healthy Society, all while doing the patient care, workplace organizing, contract negotiating, and striking that makes the union difference a reality in hospitals nationwide.
The first two No Kings protests, with their unprecedented attendance by more than 12 million protesters, have been among the most visible ways people in the United States have demonstrated their opposition to Trump's fascist agenda and actions. As his administration continues to devastate people at home and abroad, the third event promises to break protest records, and nurses will be there to advocate for an alternate vision of what our world could be.
National Nurses United is the largest and fastest-growing union and professional association of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members nationwide. NNU affiliates include California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, DC Nurses Association, Michigan Nurses Association, Minnesota Nurses Association, and New York State Nurses Association.

Liberals ruin everything they touch.
My faith in the medical community has already been destroyed. They can pretty much go to Hell from here on out, as it looks like they’re doing.
12 million? Really? WOW! That’s like more than the million moron march had. Looked at Reno city hall video cam yesterday. 11:30 ish a.m. Rally point had 200-300 anti-king assclowns. ๐ด๐ด๐ด๐ด๐ด
They handing out free pussy hats?
It’s the only people that show up.
No telling how many hospitalized patients are going to die while the “nurses” are out rioting for their King, Hakeem Skyhook Jeffries.
Agree, since Covid many people distrust nurses and doctors now. Nursing should have nothing to do with politics, very sad to see this group put out such an idiotic statement.
Thatโs because leftism is of satan.
This just proves why every sane person should hate the left with a passion.
At one time, nursing profession was respected.
But, the covid era demonstrated how nursing and the entire medical profession has fallen. They do not deserve respect. Respect is earned.
I am a nurse, and I despise what the profession has become.
It is laughable that their union decries the authoritarian nature of Trump. Guess they were all asleep - struck dumb & blind- during the covid years. Oh, but that’s the kind of authoritarianism they like.
It’s like the Sierra Club taking a position on abortion. Can’t stay in their own lane.
Nurses are like Teachers in this way: Individually they are wonderful people. As a group, they suck. A lot. I think the good ones are too busy with their lives outside of work. The rest are active in the union.
These are the same useful idiots that call for single payer and don’t realize they’ll make peanuts compared to what they make now.
That might have been true once it's not true anymore ... just like MAGA doesn't put Trump bumper stickers on our cars (don't want our cars keyed or set on fire) we also don't watch FOXNews in the hospital while recovering from surgery...
Why do they call it No Kings? When in reality it is about Communist Revolution??
Distrust doctors? Heck you can’t even find one.
I had some top notch nurses during my IICU three weeks.
My home nurse was a super lady. Ann was the best.
There also have been articles about nurses who won’t care for ICE agents or police officers. One nurse bragged that she intentionally made a blood-drawing procedure more painful for an elderly man who was wearing a MAGA hat. The nurses who are stupid enough to brag about this type of political activity in Red States have their licenses investigated and pulled. But God help you if you get one of these nurses in a Blue State. It seems like Blue States find it to be acceptable behavior. They can go to No Kings rallies; then refusing to treat ICE officers is an easy next step.
“At one time, nursing profession was respected.”
Professionalism in nursing ended roughly around 1990 when the “me” generation, entitlement mentality was entering. I left in 2006.
