NECEDAH, Wis. — A kangaroo who escaped from a Necedah farm earlier this week has been found.
The Sunshine Farm announced on Saturday that Chesney the kangaroo was located after being reported missing.
On Saturday morning, the farm's Facebook page shared that Chesney was spotted near the power lines on the north side of the street. He was last seen in the area of 23rd and 9th.
The Juneau County Sheriff's Office previously stated on Thursday that Chesney's owners were using a drone to search for him.
The sheriff's office also said the following:
"Apparently his dramatic ‘I’m running away to start a new life’ phase is over. Honestly, we’ve all had those days. He’s safe, he’s headed home, and hopefully he’s ready to retire from his brief career as a fugitive."

Somehow, you just know there was booze involved.
It must be warm enough for him to venture out. With some vegetation coming up for spring. I bet kangaroos will decimate backyard corn plantings.

Oh, 100%—and it’s a very real thing in Australia. 🦘🌽
Kangaroos can and do raid backyard gardens and small farms, especially when grass is sparse. They’ll go for young corn plants, shoots, and even the developing ears. It’s basically like how deer in the U.S. will cruise through your cornfield and nibble everything in sight—except kangaroos can leap over fences that deer might just walk around.
Farmers and gardeners in rural and suburban Australia routinely complain about kangaroos treating gardens as open buffets. You’ll see posts online of people finding half-eaten corn stalks or kangaroos chilling in their vegetable patch. It’s similar to deer and raccoons in the States: opportunistic, persistent, and surprisingly delicate with the young shoots (they leave older leaves sometimes, but the young stuff? Gone).
If you want, I can give a
quick “Oz backyard kangaroo-proof corn” checklist—like deer-proofing but with kangaroo tweaks. Want me to?
He was caught trying to hop a train.
Tastes kinda like spotted owl.
I love the statement from the sheriff’s office.
Kangaroo is one of the few wild meats I haven’t sampled at Game Feeds.
But, there’s still time, LOL!
Tie me kangaroo down, sport.
How many big foot sightings were there when it was esczped?
EMTs are trained to try to find out if there is cause for a report to law enforcement. So, the EMT pressed the victim for details of how the beating had happened. After a moment, the man sheepishly admitted: "I got beaten up by the kangaroo."
"What kangaroo?" the EMT asked. "That kangaroo!" came the answer as someone pointed to a kangaroo bouncing up and down about thirty feet away in dim light at a property line fence. The kangaroo, a pet of the neighbors, looked to be aching for a fight.
As it happened, the victim -- a strapping twenty something construction worker -- had a few drinks and then made a bet that he could beat the kangaroo in a fist fight. The kangaroo quickly won the match, leaving the victim to hop back over the fence, to the laughter and shock of the other partygoers.
Actually having had it both here and in Oz it was more like lean beef. Given that beef is simply easier to obtain you might as well stick with it unless you want to be adventurous in your cuisine. They ain’t endangered btw.
Isn’t this a Tom & Jerry or Bugs Bunny episode?
The sheriff’s office also said the following:
“Apparently his dramatic ‘I’m running away to start a new life’ phase is over. Honestly, we’ve all had those days. He’s safe, he’s headed home, and hopefully he’s ready to retire from his brief career as a fugitive.” Now this is news you don’t read often.
One of my FAVORITE episodes! :)
I was waiting for that one! Dad had that album when I was a kid.
Also, ‘In The Wet’ is very funny!

When my ship stopped in Australia, we were told this by our Chiefs:
“Kangaroo boxing is a thing here. You all are ordered to NOT participate.”
Of course a couple of guys didn’t hear that part.
That kangaroo completely wrecked them.
Yeah, those were all a lot of fun.
