A California dad was arrested this month over his desperate bid to make a dangerous intersection near a children’s park safer.
Joseph Brandlin, 44, installed 30-inch-high signs and painted the word “STOP” on the ground — just weeks after his son was nearly caught up in a crash, which he described as the “last straw,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
“I was almost done and no one was going to know anything,” Brandlin told officials at a city council meeting March 17.
He branded the decision “mind-boggling,” citing other four-way stops in the city, and now risks jail after being charged with grand theft and vandalism over $400.
“I was arrested and charged with two felony counts,” Brandlin said. “I was treated like a serious criminal with an effort that was motivated solely by the concern of the children of this neighborhood.”
Despite jail fears, Brandlin has no regrets — if his actions mean fatalities are going to be avoided.

Plead not guilty-demand jury trial.
Yet shop lift thousands $$$ in Cali and no problem.
I can understand how someone in California would take the law into their own hands. That state is corrupt beyond belief. Because they have so rigged the system you can’t vote the villains out . The Democrats know the Save Act is an existential threat to their existence which is why they oppose it so vehemently . This in spite of overwhelming support from the American people. Obviously the corruption has spilled over into the Republican side as well because of their pretend efforts to pass it.
Brandlin does excellent work. They should hire and finance him, not throw roadblocks and meaningless postponements.
“I was arrested and charged with two felony counts,”
Felonies......good grief
I could see the gooberment thugs charging him with vandalism. But grand theft? What’d he do to warrant that? Nothing in the article mentions him taking anything. Unless taking initiative is grand theft now.
No good deed goes unpunished.
Things like this are one of the reasons we’re becoming uncivilized and uncaring, and choosing to remain uninvolved.
Most all Real Republicans have moved out of the state or at least out of the large cities. You can’t fix stupidity.
Republicans are smart enough to know that.
Democrats; you can’t live with them and you
can’t kill them, so you move to safer places.
Good on you, Mr. Brandlin, but wearing that shirt in an asylum like California probably wasn’t a good idea.
“...because lawlessness will increase so much...”
CAUSE
“...the love of many will grow cold.”
EFFECT
Anarcho-tyranny writ large.
Yes
I know a very dedicated Republican who moved to California deliberately. He has a warrior mentality of engaging the enemy on the front lines of battle. He debates Leftists routinely on Facebook. I suppose you could have put Jim Robinson himself into that category, having lived in California until his dying day . I do miss the Zots he use to do here!
This won't be cheap.
He shoulda just went to Walgreens and took $900 worth of stuff.
At least he’d be off the hook. /s
I gave up on California, the state I was
born and raised in.
Ended up in Hawaii, a state with an even
higher percentage of Democrats. But our
Democrats are even bigger idiots.
It is pretty easy to
work around them and
do as you please.
Real Republicans & any other honest citizens need to get out of that state & let the Democrats stew in their own slop bucket.
Born and raised in California myself. I had a conversation with my liberal older brother many years ago about collectivist policies. ‘But that means California itself will fall!’ he concluded. Yep. And that is exactly what happened to an otherwise wonderful state.
