Major League Baseball's new-look "Opening Night" has come and gone. The Yankees throttled the Giants, 7-0. Aaron Judge struck out four times. Max Fried was unhittable. Tony Vitello probably misses Knoxville at the moment.
You know, usual opening night stuff for MLB.
The big story around Wednesday, though? Netflix. This was the streaming giant's foray into baseball, and buddy, it was a rocky little ride. Now, that's to be expected. There were always going to be bumps in the road, and there were several here.
Elle Duncan was insufferable and didn't know what home plate was. Seems like a problem for an MLB pregame show.
I'm not quite sure what the point of Jameis Winston was.

The FCC is right. We don't need premium pay services taking over everything. Soon it will be buy our pornographic programming to get sport. It's the dream of adult magazines. Must buy their magazine to get literature to read.
People watch baseball?
Any pregame WITHOUT A-Fraud, Big Papi, and Jetah is an improvement.
I liked Hunter Pence and CC Sabathia came off pretty polished for a newbie.
I can’t criticize the interview of Manfred because I muted that.
Goes to say NO pro commissioner is worth listening to.
ESPN’s baseball coverage set the bar so low after getting rid of Miller and Morgan that anything is an improvement.
I'm a veteran. I haven't watched a single game since they disrespected the flag.
Admittedly hard to believe but Ive heard that claim. There are also people claiming to watch something called golf and paint drying championships.
Light-skinned blacks, especially the females like Susan Rice, know everything and exude their superiority toward others, particularly other blacks. They are the strongest examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
lol. Thats what people demanded when they cut the cord. You get what you wish for. I think it’s funny myself. Who didn’t think it was going to cost money even when cutting the cord. This is exactly what people clamored for.
In the world of American leftism, it seems that light-skinned blacks are often the most radical actors, in terms of neo-marxist racial views. That's been observable across many decades.
I wonder why that is.
Paint drying championships I could understand watching at least to the commercial break before changing the channel, but golf and baseball is an instant channel flip.
On the other hand, the Netflix Lady series is looking pretty good.
Wrong! Lots of Spring Training games shown, but not the actual season.
High Yellows are still Black.
Except that is for the Yellow Rose of Texas who is a great American

Oh, the BEST Sunday afternoon slowdown by far is Al Blade lawnmowing channel on YouTube. He finds really bad, weedy, junky yards and cleans them up for free. Just 1+ hours of pure lawnmower engine humming in the background. Makes for a great nap.
I turn the volume all the way down and use it as a moving picture mounted on the wall. It’s better than the news, which my wife used to put on if only for the habit of seeing something in the room.
I did the unthinkable, which was to actually read the article. The main complaint in the article is that the first ever use of ABS (Hal 9000 checking on the umpire’s balls/strikes) in a major league game was never shown to the audience because of a mid-inning interview with Tony Vitello.
I guess I was lucky, I enjoyed an outdoor dinner in Denton Square instead. I don’t intend to change my team from the Rays to the Rangers, even if the Rangers are much better, so I will be watching less MLB this season.
I admit that I watched that game last night. (I am an admitted baseball junkie who also watches golf all the time) I turned it on at 6pm central because I didn’t realize that there was a pregame show but switched over after watching it for a couple of minutes due to the reasons mentioned in the previous posts. That woman was annoying and Alfred Pujols doesn’t seen to have a strong grasp of the English language.
The game coverage was pretty bad. The centerfield camera seemed to have the light exposure turned up too high so that angle made the stadium look like it was filled with fog for the first few innings. I clocked the fact that they missed the first use of ABS and mentioned it to the wife. I commented that the producer must not be a baseball fan or have done their homework if the allowed that to happen. First time in history and they missed it. I am not a fan of the ABS but I am not a fan of the DH in the National League or the goofy extra innings rule that puts a runner on second base to speed the game along. I am a traditionalist fan of the game since the late 70’s and I don’t like messing with the game.
I will say that the announcers were good. CC Sabathia was particularly entertaining.
Personally, I draw the line at competitive lawn mowing. Those little John Deere tractors have just ruined it.
The broadcasters of the game (not pre-game/post-game) are MLB Productions crew.
The DH doesn’t belong in the NL, agreed, but the WBSC (international) softball tiebreaker is like hockey’s 3-on-3 overtime, only used in the regular season. In Korea, there is a limit of two extra innings (11 overall) before it’s a tie game. In Japan (NPB) and Taiwan (CPBL), both the runner on second and the three-inning limit (12 overall) are used. The rule is not used in postseason.
A perfect game in theory ends after nine innings.
The FCC’s investigation into sporting events moved to premium pay is a rehashing of the 1975 policy the Supreme Court struck down in 1977 at the behest of HBO that has created the “gutter” of praising X-rated television and ending the idea of G rated shows.
Speaking of Netflix, they just went full South Park...
They made one of the chicks in Bridgerton gay.
Just read the books.
Netflix is Regietheater, that’s how they want it. Social engineering to get people to accept an agenda most of us reject.
