‘White plague’ is on the rise in the US — it’s deadlier than COVID and becoming antibiotic-resistant (tuberculosis)
NY Post ^ | 3/25/26 | McKenzie Beard

One of humanity’s oldest and deadliest killers is staging a modern-day comeback.

The so-called “white plague” reclaimed its title as the world’s deadliest infectious disease in 2023 after being briefly overtaken by COVID-19 during the first three years of the pandemic.

And the US isn’t immune. While the country still has one of the lowest rates globally, cases have been climbing steadily since 2020 — reversing three decades of decline.

Just this week, in fact, the man accused of murdering 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman failed to show up for a detention hearing because he’s being treated for tuberculosis.

Provisional data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that 10,260 tuberculosis cases were reported nationwide in 2025, including a staggering 967 in New York alone.

But the real toll could be even higher. TB symptoms are often mistaken for more common illnesses like the flu or RSV, meaning cases can be missed or treatment delayed.

Public health experts say that’s a problem in itself. The longer TB goes undiagnosed, the more it can spread, and the higher the risk that the bacteria causing it will develop antibiotic resistance to its medicines, making it harder to treat.

The good news: TB is preventable — and with proper treatment, many people are cured. Here’s what you need to know about the disease quietly making a comeback across America.

What is tuberculosis?

Also known as “consumption” and “the robber of youth,” TB is an infectious disease that usually attacks the lungs, but it can also spread to other parts of the body, including the kidneys, spine and brain.

And don’t forget to stand six feet apart. And shut down churches. But political rallies for demoncraps are still okay.

“Covid” was not that deadly, the “treatments” killed millions. And when they LITERALLY change the definition of the word pandemic, you know it was not a pandemic. World’s greatest psych op.

I wish the Press would give the COVID narative a rest.

There was no COVID pandemic.

There was a complex conspiracy to commit mass murder for the purpose (I believe) to make billions of dollars selling a purported 'vaccine' and hospitalization of patients that should never have been hospitalized had they been treated early.

Get ready for the medical bills.

Per AI...

“Treating Multidrug-Resistant TB (MDR-TB) and Extensively Drug-Resistant TB (XDR-TB) is highly expensive, often exceeding $100,000–$500,000 per patient in the U.S. due to long treatment durations, expensive drugs, and high hospitalization rates. Costs include medications, intensive monitoring, and significant income loss for patients.

I heard this yesterday on FOX:

Chicago Arrest: A 25-year-old Venezuelan national, identified by DHS as Jose Medina, was arrested for the murder of 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman. His initial court appearance was postponed because he was hospitalized with tuberculosis. This case has intensified political debate regarding immigration enforcement and sanctuary city policies.

Back in the day, 17/1800s, it was called Consumption

Consumption is an old medical term for tuberculosis, a contagious disease primarily affecting the lungs. It was called consumption due to the severe weight loss and “wasting away” it caused in affected individuals.

Wasting away again in Margaritaville because we let Margaritaville invade.

Thank you! Shame on the post for gas lighting and not saying ‘whom’ is actually bringing these diseases in…

How about we send back all the illegals who brought it in - then eradicate it ... again.

I heard that an N95 mask will stop most TB bacteria - but I didn’t wear one during Covid either....

Who brought these diseases in? Mayorkas, under the Biden administration, who should all be rounded up and rotting in prison, in early America they would have been executed. Who opens a border, knowing the disease they bring with them are deadly to Americans? Who opens the border to murderers and rapists?

But more dangerous are the politicians who are fighting to keep them here.

Several years ago, a friend of mine who was a retired physician told me that he thought the old diseases that were making a come-back would have evolved so much that they would no longer be resistant to the early antibiotics...and we should start over again with them.
