President Trump recently signed an Executive Order that expands U.S. production of glyphosate, a herbicide contained in commercial and domestic weed killers, such as Roundup.
Glyphosate has been rigorously tested in more than 2,000 studies, including the U.S. National Cancer Institute’s large Agricultural Health Study, and has been used by farmers and home gardeners for more than 50 years. Yet some environmental advocates and other groups contend it causes cancer, specifically non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
This outcry stems primarily from a 2015 hazard assessment by the International Agency for Research on Cancer’s (IARC), a semi-autonomous agency of the World Health Organization, which concluded that glyphosate “probably” causes cancer.
That finding has also fueled mass tort litigation against Bayer/Monsanto, the company that produces glyphosate, resulting in thousands of lawsuits and billions of dollars in settlements. It should be pointed out that IARC looks at hazard (the potential to cause cancer under any circumstances) rather than risk (the likelihood of cancer occurring under real-world exposure levels)—leading to classifications that many experts feel cause unnecessary public alarm.
The IARC decision has been criticized by scientists and regulatory bodies on several grounds. First, it lacked transparency: meetings were by invitation only, and members were told not to discuss proceedings externally. Second, it excluded key studies finding no cancer link—most notably the National Cancer Institute’s Agricultural Health Study of 54,000 farm workers, which found no significant association. When omitted from combined analyses, the glyphosate-cancer relationship grew significantly; a Reuters investigation found that many other null-result studies were also edited out. Third, conflicts of interest tainted the panel: Christopher Portier, a special IARC advisor, reportedly signed a lucrative consulting contract with law firms suing Monsanto shortly after the report’s release. The animal data fared no better: Statistician Robert Tarone testified before Congress that IARC cherry-picked positive

Posting for discussion. I am interested, but don’t have a side in this debate yet.
ALL the reports said MAY cause cancer.
When read by politicians and bureaucrats “..... cause cancer”
Statistics NEVER gives you an answer. At best it gives you another question.
But, politicians and bureaucrats have to have a continuing problem for their existence. If a problem is solved, then........................
Follow the money
An acquaintance has represented Bayer in more than one lawsuit against glyphosate. He’s convinced that it’s safe.
I’ve seen enough links to leaky gut and other issues to avoid this crap liek the plague
Anecdotally—I don’t eat grains and veery little processed food or anything known to be heavily treated with pesticides or other chemicals or preservatives and have been eating this way > 15 years and am stronger, faster and have more endurance than most men less than half my age and need no medications so will pass on consuming poisons
The evidence is overwhelming against the poison.
Been using concentrate and mixing Round Up for several years now. And I usually go a little to the heavy side. Weeds dead. Switched to some Ortho Ground Clear lately and it seems to work a little better. Me? Still spraying. My blood work is always right down the middle with nothing screaming out that could be attributed to using the stuff. Probably just me.
You can no longer buy it retail in Europe, so my wife and I ordered it from an ag supplier. Did a great job suppressing an invasion of raspberry bushes on the property we inherited in the countryside.
I BELIEVE the most recent versions of both RoundUp and Ortho Ground Clear no longer contain Glyphosate.
They now contain some other chemical.
FYI, I used the stuff for years too.
Orthos Ground Clear and Brush B Gone always had a heavier concentration of the Glyphosate for less money than the RoundUp brand.
Home Depot even had their own HDL brand that was even a heavier concentrate for less money.
I no longer use it but do miss its effectiveness. It does leave a gap for some other product to fulfill.
I personally avoid any non-organic grain products due to the negative health effects from glyphosate and other agricultural chemicals in non-organic wheat, corn, etc. That being said, these chemicals assist farmers in producing grain and we are looking at a possible shortage of fertilizer due to the Iran War. If President Trump can defeat the Iranians and keep the Straits of Hormuz open, the shortages will end. But the effects of the war will drive up the cost of grain worldwide, and a ban on glyphosates will result in even higher prices for grain. That could especially impact Third World nations and destabilize Western governments.
I have used RoundUp for years but I don’t feel like it works like it used too.
It’s makes me wonder a little bit whenever I eat a soy based product. Stuff kills all the vegetation except the soybean plant.
While we’re at it, re-legalize DDT. Safe for humans.
What America needs is a spray on lawercide
you should worry about eliminating carrageenan from your diet, a proven gut inflammatory ... almost all cheap dairy products use it as a thickener, including all store brands ... only high-quality brands like Daisy and Häagen-Dazs don’t use it ...
Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup ... period ...
Bkmk
“... the negative health effects from glyphosate ... these chemicals assist farmers in producing grain and we are looking at a possible shortage of fertilizer”
Sounds like you personally don’t want glyphosate in your body, but glyphosate use might be justified to minimize food shortages due to fertilizer shortages.
