The great toilet paper panic is back as Japan starts stockpiling

Panic buying is back in Japan.

As the U.S.-Israeli-Iran conflict rattles oil markets, Japanese consumers are stockpiling toilet paper—a product with no connection to the disruptions whatsoever, but that has caused enough problems for the country that the Japanese government has urged citizens to stop buying ahead of time. Still, social media posts depicting empty toilet paper abound.

But why would people panic buy goods unrelated to or not affected by the conflict? Panic buying behaves much like a bank run. Nobody knows exactly where it starts—some single, bleating data point that says this store is going to run out of toilet paper, or this bank is going to run out of money.

After I began using water jet Bidet, I am never going back to drycleaning with toilet paper. I go on ocean cruises often, and only thing I miss there is the bidet. It is 100 times cleaner result and requires very small amounts of toilet paper. The bidet kit is easy to install on existing toilet flushing system. I have installed it in every bathroom in house and in my girl friends apartment. She is also never going back to dry cleaning.

Speaking of “stockpiling”...Biden sold off the national helium reserve to a private company (not necessarily a real bad thing, but now the FedGov doesn’t have their own supply) and now the helium supply is cut-off due to the Strait of Hormuz...MRI machines do not work w/o helium.

The ME never suffers from a toilet paper shortage.
Unless they got caught stealing and suffer from a left hand shortage.

I think it’s a great idea. Water is the universal solvent...

I live in an apartment, but when we buy our retirement condo, we’re installing one.

I’ve never understood the obsession some have with the idea that making sure a household has toilet paper is panic buying and the other things they call it.

Toilet paper doesn’t expire so there is no reason to not always be well stocked, yet running out if the supply or transportation is interrupted would wreak havoc and great unpleasantness in most households.

During covid I called my preacher and told him if someone needed TP (or food) for him to let them know I had some for them, I also said the same to a few neighbors, my only request from him was to make sure they really needed it before they bothered me.

Interesting! I wasn’t aware there were easy kits. As for the Japanese, whatever blows smoke up their collective dresses, I guess. I do remember how difficult it was to get TP during COVID. It was like living in the USSR (the Biden regime was arguably as murderous).

I have a good friend with EIGHT kids and two adults in the household. Good Catholic. ;)

At the beginning of CovidBS-19 she was doing her weekly shopping and had two 24 packs of TP in her cart. The Cashier asked, ‘Stocking Up?’

And she said, “Nope. This is our weekly!” LOL!
