WASHINGTON — Delta Air Lines is punishing Congress for failing to fund the Department of Homeland Security.

The airline company has temporarily yanked its special congressional desk service to lawmakers and staffers on Capitol Hill until Congress finally funds the DHS, which has been in a partial shutdown since Feb. 28.

“Due to the impact on resources from the longstanding government shutdown, Delta will temporarily suspend specialty services to members of Congress flying Delta,” the company said in a statement first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

They deserve no perks and should have to actually live in their districts.

Most of them are flat out greedy power hungry scum.

Exactly! They should get nothing except their salary, and coach plane tickets for when they have to go somewhere on official business.

Especially when some smart ass Delta employee tells one of them that this only applies to black congress critters.

Hoooooo-boy:)

Yep.

And as an aside, how is this not bribery?

They are giving something to the people who control their rules and regulations.

That said, although I agree with “throw them all out” most days, I’m also tired of blame for these dem economic sabotage actions attaching to Republicans who worked to keep things running. Reminds me of a gutless elementary school principal who spanks all the boys in the vicinity vs punishing the offenders, encouraging the punks and discouraging the kids who stayed out of it — it doesn’t incentivize good behavior.

But THEY need to get home to see their constituents, not like the business traveler who has been on the road for two weeks and wants to see their kids.

They should get the same loyal customer perks as anyone else.

I used to work in a company where the local pols had their accounts tagged. The previous manager wanted to pull them out of any “collections” activity, so if they were late with a payment…we would not hound them like a regular customer.

I pulled that code off all accounts.

‘I took the phone calls from these scum bags when they were “threatened” with a hit to their credit score—like everyone else when they failed to pay the bill.

You know what—they all got into line within a month.

And it’s not always the Congress Critters that are impacted. It’s their staff. And a more entitled class does not exist than a congressional staffer.

I think most of them forget that pretty quickly. We ought to remind them frequently. Help keep them humble and grounded, for their and our benefit.

It would be interesting to pay members of Congress the average US wage, with no perks. Let them suffer through the daily struggle that most of us experience. Then, when they leave office, they can get “back pay” that gives them the rest of the salary that Congressmen traditionally make. But they should be mostly paid on the back-end of the deal.

They would understand real Americans better.
They wouldn’t serve in office for 40 years. They’d get out quick and get real money.

“they are entitled American royalty”

That’s a fact. Once they become a member of the monarchy, their lives are financially secure.
