Women’s boxer Isis Sio, 19, in coma after knockout
NY Post ^ | March 23, 2026 | Noah Nussbaum

After her knockout Saturday, women’s junior flyweight boxer Isis Sio has been placed in a medically induced coma, ESPN reported Sunday.

...

The 19-year-old was knocked unconscious after multiple hits to the head in her fight with Jocelyn Camarillo at the Orange Show Event Center in San Bernardino, Calif. Camarillo landed an early left hook and three more punches before Sio fell to the ground.

The fight ended after 78 seconds.

She received immediate medical attention following the knockout and was stretchered out of the arena before being taken to the Intensive Care Unit at Loma Linda University Health Medical Center. Sio could be seen convulsing as she was taken out, the first sign her injuries were more devastating than a typical knockout.

Sunday’s knockout follows another during her most recent match with Perla Bazualda on Jan. 30 after several crushing body blows.

She currently has a 1-3 overall record after falling unanimously to Jessica Radtke Maltez in her debut. Her lone win came against Katelyn Radtka.

Sunday’s result moved Camarillo to 6-0

I agree 100%.

It is there because…”women sports”…so they can pretend women can do everything physically that men can do.

As a male, I find the concept of women punching each other to be stupid and repulsive.

Wrestling, of course, would be okay…as long as there is mud and bikinis involved…(ducks)

I don’t know of any advanced or rising civilizations in history that allowed, much less celebrated, women engaged in combat sports.

Its a sign of degeneracy.

I just don’t get the attraction of women’s contact sports, in general.

Pre-fight Betting Sentiment: Tapology community picks had Camarillo as a significant favorite, with 86% favoring her to win, specifically by KO/TKO.
Fight Outcome: Camarillo justified the odds by winning via a first-round knockout (1 minute and 18 seconds).
Alton Telegraph

Fighter Status: Entering the bout, Camarillo was 5-0 while Sio was 1-2.

Ditto for real combat.

Ancient Romans allowed female gladiators—sometimes called gladiatrices—who trained and fought in arenas, especially between the 1st and early 3rd centuries CE. These women, who were usually slaves, fought other women or beasts, offering a rare, exotic spectacle before being banned by Emperor Septimius Severus around 200 CE.

Too stupid to box. Didn’t learn earlier. Hope she makes it, and learns.

Female MMA in the USA began in 1997 with its first documented bout, four years after the first male UFC event in 1993. While male MMA became mainstream rapidly, women’s MMA was considered a novelty, with major promotion (UFC) entry not occurring until 2013, roughly 16 years after the first U.S. female fight, spurred by stars like Ronda Rousey.

Feminist movement, women can do anything a man can do, but better. Maybe that’s why the birth rate is in such a step decline.

“Sports” where people deliberately try to injure their opponent should be banned.

It sounds like a bad pairing. A 1-3 shouldn't have been matched with a 5-0.

The role of a man as a provider is replaced by nanny government.

Looks like Camarillo gave Sio two low blows before going to the head.

The knock-out rate of any given weight class is directly proportional to fighter weight. It's a rarity among fly weights, straw weights, etc, even for the men. Rare in general among women, moreso among the lighter weight classes.

This is UFC but I expect the ratios in prizefighting to be similar.

The UFC has had a Women's division for about 12 years. You can count the one-punch KTFOs they've had in that time on one hand. Or the number of women fighters capable of delivering a "walk-off" knockout.

Note that KOs/TKOs among flyweight men are 30% more common than among flyweight women.

RRR says she had lingering effects from too many head traumas when she came to the UFC, but those came from wrestling, not MMA or boxing.

“Sunday’s knockout follows another during her most recent match with Perla Bazualda on Jan. 30 after several crushing body blows.”

Should she have been fighting less than 60 days after another knockout?
