President Donald Trump on Monday told CNBC’s Joe Kernen that Iran is in the process of regime change following his latest talks with the country.
Moments before their phone call, Trump revealed in a Truth Social post that he had “productive conversations” with Iranian leadership. As a result of those conversations, the president said, there would be a temporary halt to military strikes on Iranian targets. Operation Epic Fury, the operation that began the war in Iran three weeks ago, killed more than four dozen members of the Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran, however, said “there has been no direct or indirect contact” with Trump and denied his claims that there were talks.
Following the death of the supreme leader, it was announced that Mojtaba Khamenei — Ali’s son —had been chosen to succeed him. The Trump administration has repeatedly claimed that Mojtaba was seriously wounded in a strike and that his current status is unknown.
Although Mojtaba’s reign was widely considered a continuation of his father’s, Trump insisted the country was undergoing regime change as a result of the war. Reporting on his call with the president, Kernen said:
"I just spoke to the President. President Trump said the discussions have been very good over the last 48 hours, very intense discussions. I said, 'Well, with whom?' I thought, you know, there aren’t a lot of leaders left alive. He said they have representatives. Obviously, that’s been one of the things that Iran has tried to say, that we’ve got a structure more than any one person.
"The President went on to say, or insist, that this is regime change because it’s totally different people that were involved in the last regime. I would imagine some of the people are the same. This is the president’s take on that, insisting that it’s regime change. He went on to say great meetings, great conversations, and hopes that within the next five days something very substantive can be arrived at for the end of hostilities."

Hm.
It’s only production talk if coordinates were obtained.
I don’t care what he calls it; just that he gets it done. The regime is a scourge on the Earth.
Agreed……but no popular uprising?
As long as there’s a chance of being gunned-down, they should stay inside as they were told.
More lies, I think.
Agreed again, but doesn’t that keep the IRGC in charge? Will the IRGC just give up?
Regime Change without boots on the ground would be salutary, but is not currently a Strategic Objective.
I’m sure there are some who may want to; and Iran has a regular Army, too.
The ordinary people don’t exactly have the benefit of ‘a gun behind every blade of grass’.
I imagine this operation was launched with “regime change” as an optimal result, but was never counted-upon
Trump has what he wants for now - the start of a plan for US control / management of oil through Hormuz, and Iran greatly weakened, in chaos, and in a box.
Nothing is over yet.
Just don’t listen to that warmonger fag Lindsey Graham.
Thank God it seems like DJT is looking for an off-ramp.
Hopefully enough time to recover for the mid-terms.
I don’t care what Harry Enten and his stupid “100% MAGA” poll says. The coalition that elected DJT and a Republican Congress in 2024 is split on Iran, and we need all hands on deck for November to avoid the Communists taking control of the legislative branch, or at least mitigate the damage.
The popular uprising was largely manufactured by Mossad. The Israelis said it openly. It was supported by the propaganda machine. 30,000 dead has no primary source, it was planted in dozens of papers all at once, all referring to other papers. We fluffed up the Shah’s playboy son and had him ready to send in. The Iranians cut off their internet and cell service. Only a few people with Starlink have been getting coms and an occasional landline. So there is no communication method to get people out into the streets if they were so inclined.
Add in constant assassinations and US/Israeli bombing... things like the double tap on the girls school, and Iranian security forces in a bad mood, and there is no take over coming.
A lot of this was a “fake it till you make it” regime change on the part of Trump and NetanYAYhoo. Trump is fairly gullible and they convinced him they were a day or two from a bomb, and that this would go like Venezuela. He fell for it.
He just answered reporters’ questions on the tarmac and it doesn’t sound like good news for the Iranian people. He said they’ve been talking to someone in Iran who seems like a reasonable person & people respect(?) and he thinks they have a deal. Apparently, his idea of regime change is a new face within the same system. Unless its’s an officer in the Artesh who is going to help the people bring down the IRGC, this is bad news. Not a single question asked had to do with the Iranian people.
They are a bunch of radical, nut case extremists. I cannot see them negotiating ANYTHING—much less voluntarily giving up power. I hope I am wrong.
I would say the “regime” has already changed a couple of times since this all started. Let’s ask the old Ayatollah?
Unless there truly is a regime change and the enriched uranium secured then all this was for naught. Apparently Trump now realizes that uprooting the thousands of desperate regime insiders and their goons cannot be done with air strikes and decapitation. It would require American boots on the ground ,heavy fighting and casualties. also the measures necessary to secure the Stait of Hormuz and guarentee free passage of shipping will require regime change. Trump quickly started this war after making promises that “help was on the way” to the protesters who were murdered and for some strategic purposes. He did not realize how desperate the regime insiders would be to stay in power. For them if they are deposed, they will die. The goons know this too. Sadly doubt there will be a regime change and fear the lunatic, demonic Democrats will ride the backlash to power in 2026 and 2028. It is America and the American people who will end up suffering terribly.
HA! HA! HA!
Like YOU know anything about what the F is going on.
You are consistently WRONG….
It’s looking like Trump’s man is Ghalibaf. That’s very bad. He’s someone the Iranian people want dead.
“The ordinary people don’t exactly have the benefit of ‘a gun behind every blade of grass’.”
The only purpose for bird in the ground there would be for our soldiers to distribute weapons to those who want freedom. To bad TPTB over there murdered thousands of them recently.
