We just got a 2026 Corolla cross. Gas engine, non hybrid. Gads, they want to shove that hybrod thing down your throat. We “ordered” it, and it took 6 months to get. apparently Toyota likes to build the hybrids first but they couldnt get components. so we had to wait. It finally showed up last week, cypress green and AWD—a rarity in the south due to marketing. Its a smooth riding car so far.

I bought a 2012 Toyota Prius and put 200k on it before it was totaled in 2020.

I used the insurance money and got another 2012 Prius with 150K and a slightly better model with money left over. Since then I’ve put 100k on it so it’s sitting at a bit over 250k.

No issues with either. I still get 45-50 mpg depending on winter vs summer gas. I can basically tell within a week when the shift occurs.

Watch it. Been using one for 30+ years. Love it.
And not on my dog.

Yeah he’s a drama queen to get viewers but usually justifies it with some useful information. Thanks to him I bought a 2000 Camry and it’s what he claimed: a near-indestructible low-maintenance tank that gets decent mileage that’s easy to work on when it needs it.

When he records in his den you’ll see an American flag in a commemorative triangular case on the shelves behind him. It’s from losing a son who served in the Gulf War, which he never talks about, but I suspect his living next to Ft. Campbell has significance.

I have a 2012 Tacoma I bought brand new and still have it at 310k miles on it. Put in a total of maybe 4k in work on it over that time. But I hear the newer Toyotas in the last few years are crap. A lot of plastic parts that eluded to be metal. Ect

Just bought a 2025 Honda Accord LX. (Gas) Then found this article. Imagine our surprise. Except for the idiotic AIS (there’s a $89 module available to automate it, plugs into harness between AIS switch and power outlet) it’s the nicest car I’ve ever had.

The guy is a rambling idiot. I heard him once say you never need to change your power steering or brake fluid. Lost me there, that’s not an opinion, that’s just wrong. Yes, he does have a Toyota fetish. Never trust a guy with a hoarder’s garage.

I maintain two daily drivers. A 2014 Ford Fusion and a 2014 Chevy Cruze. I changed the fluids on schedule and even went a little overboard with the ecoboost in the fusion and changed every 3k miles... the car has 180k miles on it. Both paid for, and both are reliable as hell. I had a 93 Camry... now that was a battle tank that ran forever.

I have an unreliable car....

“But he does know what he’s talking about.”

I used to think so too, until I saw him recommend fixing brake lines with plumbing compression fittings.

I used to watch his videos. Scotty seems like an amiable guy, but I couldn’t take his clickbait titles and stopped watching him a few years ago.

I don’t own one, but we have rented a ‘25 hybrid and it was an amazing car. It got 48mpg in local driving, and had plenty of power for freeway driving. I’m not a big Toyota guy, but there’s a reason it’s the most popular car in the US. You could do a LOT worse.

We bought a brand new 26 Toyota Camry Hybrid that now has 10,000 miles and love it. Great on gas, smooth running, very quiet. Toyota still is the best car on the road. Never buy Kia, we had three, two were junk.
