Oscars ‘sanctuary’ stage unveiled as producers reveal their design inspiration (only 4.87 years left)

The designers behind Hollywood’s grandest stage pulled back the curtain on their green-themed inspiration for the Oscars dais.

The stage for the 98th Academy Awards show resembles a garden courtyard, with overhanging tree branches and other floral touches meant to provide a feeling of zen.

“There is an unsettled nature around the climate right now, and there’s just something very calming about being surrounded by architecture, but having this space for trees to grow,” Oscars production designer Alana Billingsley told Vanity Fair of the stage’s theme.

The stage for the 98th Academy Awards show resembles a garden courtyard, with overhanging tree branches and other floral touches.

“We are exploring the contrast between the organic and the rigidly architectural, and that creates the feeling that life can exist anywhere.”

The award show’s A-list guests should feel like they’re in a “sanctuary for celebration” inside the Dolby Theater, added production designer Misty Buckley. “It’s got that gorgeous sense of place and belonging.”

It’s just so divine,” Buckley added. “I think that also helps the audience feel connected and part of something, and really warm and held within the space.”

In previous years, the stage was decorated with gold tones and sparkling details, creating a sense of luxury.

Fake - All fake, like everything Hollywood - including the people.

I’m sure they’ve included a “stoop and poop” hole for the purposes of inclusion.

Are they expecting an audience outside of the winners and their significant others? Are they still requiring an ID to get in?

How many charging stations are there in the venue’s parking lot? And how many homeless people?

Only saw 1 of the nominated films, Hamnet and it was very good and very sad. I bet Sinners walks away with a sweep.

Good question as to what is the carbon footprint of the Oscars? Since we are all supposed to be so mindful of our carbon footprint?

Pretentious, egotistical and phony - just like Hollywood.

I have no plans to watch, haven’t in years..

The Oscars? Is this the one where rich Hollywood types drive up in limousines 20 feet long, step out in $15,000 designer clothes wearing jewelry costing $100,000 and then go in and lecture the rest of us how we’re wasting too much of the world’s resources?

If the stars were sincere they’d donate their swag bags to wounded veterans. But that will never happen.

Exactly! It’s “green” because they have, well, a few green stick trees in the back. So natural.
