Climate change is speeding up — the pace nearly doubled in ten years
Nature ^ | 6/3/26 | Alexander Witze

The rate of global warming has surged since 2015 and is now nearly double what it was in the 1970s, according to a study1 that tackles one of the hottest debates among climate scientists.

Because the past three years have shattered temperature records (see ‘Temperature boost’), researchers have been exploring whether global warming is accelerating, and if so, why. Many scientists agree that the rate at which it is increasing has picked up. This is mainly because of a reduction in air pollution following the introduction of fuel regulations for international shipping (which has resulted in fewer pollutant particles that reflect sunlight into space and seed insulating clouds). In the data, “you can practically see by eye that it has accelerated”, says Stefan Rahmstorf, a climate scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany.

{Graph with blurb about record recent temperatures}

Rahmstorf and Grant Foster, a statistician in Orono, Maine, say they have the strongest evidence yet that global warming has sped up, to a rate of around 0.35 ºC per decade. That’s faster than some other estimates2. But, the pair say their analysis provides a more accurate picture because of how it accounts for and removes the effects of natural factors, such as weather events and volcanic eruptions, that cause climate fluctuations. The study was published today in Geophysical Research Letters.

Waiting for any one of these climate zealots to say ONE WORD about private planes flying in from all over to attend climate conferences ... when it could be done so easily over Zoom.

“because the past three years have shattered temperature records (see ‘Temperature boost’),” monster El Nino in 2024 and the Hunga Tonga underwater volcano sending water vapor into the stratosphere. If someone can explain what causes El Nino I might be less skeptical. February .39 centigrade over the 40 year average on UAH. I am in Florida it is 74 - can’t complain! but I wish it was 73 like in the 1970s, Woe is Me.

So we just spend trillions of $$$ and the global warming is even accelerating?
Maybe we should stop trying!

I guess I generally agree, but the area where I live has so far been way warmer than a normal winter. In fact, we’ve had almost NO real winter. Highly unusual, but I know some places seem to have had plenty of winter & it doesn’t seem to be over yet. So, how does that make it “global”? Even if it was, there’s no known way to change the climate. I hear a lot of talk about it, but no real changes, except for the ones that happen in spite of our “efforts”. I hear that NYC has had some pretty bad weather and...who knows...? Maybe it’s because of that loser they elected for Mayor. I already mentioned the very easy winter we’ve had here, & our political climate has been pretty smooth too. Is that the “why” for our winter?

The precession period of the Earth is about 25,000 years. That would probably explain any "climate change" that is being observed. But, of course that obvious explanation is being ignored the way that "natural immunity" was ignored during COVID.

If any change is due to human activity, I suggest that the whiners go whine at China.

Have you noticed that the chronic climate liars never said a word about the huge positive environmental impact of virtual meeting technology?
