A Sublette County man who captured and brought an injured wolf into a bar in February 2024 has struck a deal with prosecutors that could keep him out of jail, reports WyoFile.
A signed plea agreement filed with the Sublette County District Court and acquired by WyoFile on Wednesday afternoon means that Cody Roberts, 44, would likely no longer face trial. It had been set to begin March 9.

Hope the wolf is OK.
Just an FYI - your link at the top says Bozeman, WY but that station is actually in Bozeman, MT. The article is about something that happened in Wyoming.
Sounds like Cody Roberts has a drinking problem, hence the requirement in the plea deal to follow recommended addiction treatment.
In reading some of the news surrounding this story, the general thought in the local community is that 1) he should have gone to trial and fought (easy to say when one is not paying the legal bills), 2) that he was stupid to bring a wolf into the bar (wolf later died), 3) that he brought a lot of bad publicity to the community, and 4) he’s a drunk.
Yikes - my apologies. You’re right - it should be MT. I was reading about the Bozeman Trail a couple of nights ago, and today thought WY instead of MT.
This is becoming a bigger problem than Florida Man shoeing up at the Waffle House with a gator under his arm.
To the cattle and sheep ranchers in WY, I propose a toast, “This is a good start!”
Set ‘em up boys.
I think this is the case where he killed the wolf, after allowing it to suffer in fear and pain from being run over by the idiot’s snowmobile
Was the wolf alive in the bar?
Yes, with its mouth taped shut and the creep clowning around, kissing it, etc.
Hard won justice bump!
FR fix test & time to kick to keep FR up & running.
👍 😎 😇

So you like torturing animals? Kill them don’t torture them. The guy was a sick, low IQ, freak.

Stuff like this why we in the 1970’s didn’t take a whole lot of pictures.
We didn’t call the cops or the media and if we thought someone did, we were not staying in the area and took the ‘wolf’ or what ever with us to not be found.
So did you drag it back to a bar, after injuring it, just to show off with it? Or did you kill it cleanly?
If the former, you’re just as sick as the ‘Cody’ ass.
Wow, you made up four things in one sentence, and you are offended by what you made up.
I shoot every wolf on sight. Having said that I don’t torture them nor do I let them suffer. This guy went way over the line, but I don’t think it’s worth ruining a life over. The public shame heaped on since then probably worked him over. Let the guy move on. Maybe he’ll stop drinking.
You were responding to a story that describes exactly that behavior. Maybe you should be more specific.
The guy wasn’t found guilty merely of killing a wolf. It was because of the way he treated it prior to killing it.
Even in the 80s and 90s, glad social media wasn’t a thing.
I wonder if some younger people born when social media was already rolling will have regrets later heh.
Some Karen called the cops who tied up the gator, taped its mouth and posed for pictures.
