But a new study has found a growing connection between cannabis use and detrimental effects on mental health. Smoking weed has previously been found to have an impact on the brain by altering dopamine activity that closely resembles patterns observed in psychosis.
Now, a study led by McMaster University and published in The Canadian Journal of Psychiatry has shown that increasing cannabis use and worsening mental health symptoms are appearing together more and more often.
“We see that Canadians who use cannabis tend to be more likely to meet criteria for anxiety and depressive disorders, and more likely to report suicidality,” said Jillian Halladay, an assistant professor in the School of Nursing at McMaster. “We also see that this co-occurrence has strengthened over time.”

During the crusader era, The Old Man from the Mountain, religious leader of the assassin sect, was doping his followers with hashish. They were so doped up, they jumped of the cliff to their death, when asked.
He used them to murder his enemies. As they were wasted, they did not care, if they were caught!
From the Hashish use, they were called Assassins.

Alcohol is indeed very bad - though possible to consume without it having the effect of a drug or intoxication. However, of course, all too many don’t do that.
Ultimately, however, bringing that up is not relevant to this discussion. It is like those who argue violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants don’t matter because native born Americans also commit the same crimes. Irrelevant, as the fact is that the violent crimes committed by the illegal immigrants would not have been committed if they were not here and there would have been no victims of those crimes they committed. “Other people are bad too” is no defense nor relevant to that fact.
Likewise, “other things are bad to consume too” is no defense nor relevant - the terrible things irresponsible alcohol consumption has caused has no relevance to the reality all of this is happening and otherwise would not be happening without increased use of marijuana:

All these cases were schizophrenics maniacs on dope!
There is huge correlation between marihuana and schizophrenia.
They are just not sure, if it causes schizophrenia or schizophrenics just extensively use dope.
Obviously, the left blamed them on guns, yet it is illegal for mentally ill to have guns already!
No new laws needed, just make sure the laws on the books are enforced properly!
