An animal will chew its own leg off to escape a trap. Likewise, even a corporation as historically woke as Target will pay whatever it costs to escape its downtown Minneapolis headquarters as the area swirls down a maelstrom of moonbattery into ruin.

For nearly five years, almost one million square feet of former Target office space in downtown Minneapolis — where the retail giant is headquartered — have sat largely vacant, even as Target continued paying rent, The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
The George Floyd race riots presumably played a role in the area’s second largest employer abandoning its downtown headquarters.
Minneapolis has again become an epicenter of violent unrest as Democrat politicians mobilize mobs of moonbats against federal immigration enforcement. As noted at Not the Bee,
Leftists have spent the last several months storming the corporate offices because Target won’t condemn the operations of federal law enforcement officers who have been tasked with arresting pedophiles, traffickers, and murderers who entered the United States illegally.

Now the retailer has written a check for nearly $110 million to formally break its City Center tower lease, which had been scheduled to run through 2031.
It is worth any price to get out of the sinkhole an inner city will inevitably become with moonbats like Jacob Frey in control.
It isn’t just Target:
Minneapolis is grappling with roughly 10 million square feet of empty office space. Even with some companies implementing return-to-office policies, tenants across the Twin Cities gave back 300,000 SF more office space than they leased last year.
Go woke, go broke. It applies not just to brands like Bud Light but to whole cities.

Target people, “and the like” (pbs/npr/NYT/CNN), voted for decay. Downtown MPLS was a ghost in 1978 - 1980, except the bank where a friend worked.
Another friend bought HEAD skis. The company existed on paper. The factory was shut down - nothing happening.
The area was in its first large scale economic crisis - Detroit’s rust belt.
The leftist-liberal “enlightened” having no wish to be turned away in liberal social circles, by saying something practical.
At a gathering, at the home of the inventor of Soft Soap, nothing practical - except the swimming pool and evening weather were pleasant.
My tennis partner on occasion, was the wife of the Honeywell VP. She was wonderfully smart and practical. Great gal.
A couple guys a Cargill - smart fellows. A friend at 3M - smart.
But the Hubert Humphrey, Democrat Farm Labor, Kennedy family phalanx for “managable socialism” - with “organizers” and elite liberals gainful “returns” thanks to their being exclusive managers - was the pyramid scheme that ruled.
Interesting. I like my local Target, which carries a nice selection of everything. Huge store, a mile around. During lockdowns when the gym was closed, I met a friend of mine there and we walked around the perimeter on the INSIDE where it was warm and dry. We had fun and of ccourse bought stuff while exercising.
That was a few years ago.. New neighbor in my neighborhood worked there, she said, and some kind of heavy metal rack fell on her shoulder, broke bones, she couldn’t drive. Target paid her $40,000 even without a lawyer.
She’s reasonably OK looking, had affairs with two single men who live in my complex. One said he broke up with her when she wanted him to pay her rent, the other said she hated his sweet big black dog and gave him a “me or the dog” ultimatum. He chose the dog.
Here comes the WOKE. One of her three kids is a trannie. And that’s absolutely fine with her.

I was banning Target due to their wokeness. May - and I mean may - rethink that.
Years ago, I had a dream job offer, but it was in Minneapolis.
I passed.
I am glad since.
Target is a worthless woke company. What a better company to have this experience. LOL!

My DIL escaped Target last October.
I won't unless they publicly announce the end of their woke policies - like men in the lady's rooms.
I lived in Minneapolis in from 05 to 07. It seemed reasonably sane then. I left because I was unwilling to go through one more of those Winters. Its gone from liberal but tolerable to completely insane now.

Downtown Minneapolis is in its death throes. Restaurants and bars are closing and the office towers are losing tenants. The only steady attractions in downtown are the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings and if crime continues to increase fewer fans will be attending home games.
Mogadishu North don’t need no huge stinkin’ Target Center.
The Somalia party line would say it needs more smaller “Learing Centers”.
