The lefty student government at a local California university rejected a proposal that would grant its student body free subscriptions to The New York Times, citing issues with how The Times covered major world-happenings.
“The New York Times has historically been a little bit problematic and controversial in their reporting and in their journalism,” student official Alya Hassan, who voted against the proposal, told the Fresno Bee.
Hassan referenced its coverage of Israel and Gaza as one example, adding the organization lacked journalistic integrity for avoiding words like genocide, ethnic cleansing and occupied territory in its reporting.
The paper has faced backlash and criticism regarding its coverage of the Israel-Gaza war, with critics from multiple sides accusing it of bias.
The proposal at its Feb. 18 meeting — first reported by The Collegian, the student-run paper — would have provided free subscriptions at a cost of $15,705 to the student government. The motion failed in a majority vote after a 30-minute debate, the Bee reported.
The proposal was written and put forth by another Fresno State student, Sarah Sevy, after conversations with supporters.
“I had students say ‘oh I love the cooking,’ or ‘oh I love the Wordle,’ or ‘man that would be really handy when my professor says we have to use this article, and it’s behind a paywall,’” Sevy told the Bee.

Consider this well, college now indoctrinates (not educates) students to ignore reality and only accept the created narrative feed them from the system.
This is one of several reason I firmly most universities need to be completely dismantled. The people running them will never allow anyone who is not properly indoctrinated to make any changs now. There is no saving them.
They say “college students” but they mean “women in college”.

The student government would have to pay over $15,000.
So students would have to pay it through the tuition!

I bet the students and school didn’t want the recycling hassle. The students would be too lazy to recycle correctly the waste would just be a good fire starter.
Hassan referenced its refusal to use descriptive terms such as nickle-nose, kike, yid, hook-nose, infidel and others to characterize Jewish people. In particular, she mentioned the lack of coverage of significant cultural issues such as draining of the blood of Christian children for use in making Passover matzos. Hassan added, "Can't the New York Times see the evil that Jews do in the world? We college students can see right through their infidel coverage!" She added, "Their bias is palpable!"

If the NYT isn’t leftist enough for them, they’re in very very serious mental illness distress. Maybe these young misfits want free Molotov cocktails for accepting the free subscriptions? (It could maybe happen. Newspapers used to give away pretty nice new knives as gifts for subscribing…… smiles smiles).

I wonder what this says about the future of the NYT business model. The Times is one of the few profitable newspapers because it has captured the Woke Left as its subscriber base. But their idea of Woke seems to be out of sync with the younger generation’s idea of Woke. And the younger generation may not be interested in newspapers no matter how Woke they are. The Times could turn into Pravda and college kids still wouldn’t buy it.

I would get free ones sometimes at high end hotels.
The quickly got pitched in the trash.
The only reason I would take it if it were free is because I don’t get any print newspaper anymore and I miss the kindling it provides for the fireplace. I doubt if I would even read one word of it. In fact, I’m sure I wouldn’t. I just need cheap kindling.
