‘Star Trek: Starfleet Academy’ Is a Ratings Disaster Amid ‘First Ever Gay Klingon’ in a Dress, Teases Queer Love Triangle Plot

Paramout+’s struggling new Star Trek series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, has been unable to crack the top ten shows in the Nielsen Ratings as the eight-figure per episode series wallows in a constant stream of left-wing, identity politics like gay Klingons, bisexuals, lesbians, and girl boss characters irks fans the world over.

The most recent plot rankling longtime fans of the franchise is the full-fledged gay Klingon character named “Ja-Den.”

Ja-Den, portrayed by gay actor Karim Diane, breaks the Star Trek mold for the 60-year-old franchise’s war-like, aggressive Klingon alien race. Instead of being a warrior, Ja-Den is a vegan and a bird watcher who had two dads. And when he gets to the academy, he immediately begins dating a young human male he meets there. But, wait, there’s more. Ja-Den also has secret feelings for one of the other male students in the series

The main character was a black woman, adopted by Vulcans as a child, who accidentally starts a war and ends up taking the Starship Discovery several hundred years into the future using, wait for it, a “Spore” (i.e. Mushroom) drive. I watched some of it. It was awful.

It’s not Star Trek. It’s homosexual propaganda masquerading as Star Trek. And it’s aimed at teenagers.

As a longtime Trek fan, I tried to give it a chance, but it was just a mess. Too many “woke” characters and little beyond Progressive virtue signaling. Dropped out and not going back.

I gave Discovery a few seasons, in part because of how bad the first two seasons were in TNG (but 2nd season was an improvement).

I really liked The Next Generation, but I didn't watch any TNG until the 3rd season after it had gotten pretty good. If I had seen any of the 1st season I would have decided to no watch another episode. The same for DS9 and Voyager having horrible 1st seasons. IMHO, Enterprise was the only one with a decent first season.

It’s been all downhill for Star Trek for last 57 years.

I never watched Babylon 5

You might want to give Babylon 5 a try. In the very first episode is foreshadows how two of the main characters meet their end four years later. The lead character in season one was replaced for season two for (mental) health reasons which is a bit jarring, but they pulled it off. Episodes build on one another over the course of four years. It was canceled but then brought back for a season 5, which is a bit of a jumble and not as good as seasons 1-4.

“What’s wrong with these people? Way to permanently destroy the brand”

What’s wrong is that people aiming to sabotage as many America businesses as possible were allowed to get control of these studies and the truth is there really aren’t any real life “Springtime For Hitlers” out there.
These movies are made to drain the life out of Hollywood and they are almost finish.
Again, asking what’s wrong with these people? is a question aimed at the wrong people. From their POV there is nothing wrong with them because as they see things their job is destroying another American business. The Question should be asked of the lazy incompetents that could have kept these swine off their boards but did not.

Gene Roddenberry wrote the Star Trek episodes

He wrote a few of them ... the vast majority came from other writers, some of whom were at the time, or later became, recognized Science Fiction writers in their own right.

If I had seen any of the 1st season I would have decided to no watch another episode.

I puked my way through the first episode of TNG when it first aired. It was the last "Star Trek" anything I ever watched. Some people say it got better. I wouldn't know ...

Science Fiction in general has turned into stuff that really doesn't interest me. It's too bad; that was the genre I grew up with.

"Babylon 5: Our last, best hope for decent Science Fiction on TV." That and Stargate: SG1.

Why didn’t they name that character, “Lez-Bo?”

It’s been all downhill for Star Trek for last 57 years.

Even before they started recycling scripts from the original series and using them for "The Next Generation", they were out of gas and Jumped the Shark Tribble in the original series.

He wrote concepts and did a lot of re-writes of others. He tweaked their writings.

D.C. Fontana wrote most of them.

The idea of that episode was good, the execution was horrendous. The show was on it’s last legs.

For those who haven't seen it, Leonard Nimoy actually sang and acted in a music video for "Bilbo Baggins" in 1968.

Yes, that Bilbo Baggins from book written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It's difficult to make it out in the grainy video but some of the women dancing have elf/Spock ears.

It's a real video and it happened. It may be the most horrific 3 minutes of music/video ever.
