Something appears to be laughably missing in Politico's Saturday story about the June nonpartisan gubernatorial primary in California. Namely the front runner is a Republican, Steve Hilton, and another Republican is very possibly the second place candidate, both of whom would be facing each other in the November general election for governor.
Is it a mere coincidence that Politico writers Blake Jones and Lindsey Holden completely ignored them because they happen to have the taboo (R) by their names which are completely AWOL in "Why Swalwell and Steyer are surging in California governor’s race"?
The focus of the story (to the complete exclusion of Republicans) is made completely absurd by the inconvenient fact that Eric Swalwell is currently in either second or third place while Hilton is ahead of him according to the latest results from Emerson College Polling.

“WE DON’T TALK ABOUT WHAT WE DON’T LIKE - GET IT?”
“I want to believe.”
I find it hard to believe that the indoctrinated retards in CA will actually vote for someone that won’t make things worse.
For Politico to intelligently discuss the first and second place contenders in the polls for a nonpartisan California primary would cause them to deviate from giving aid and comfort to the domestic and foreign enemies of the United States.
… the rise of Swalwell and Steyer reflects a low-wattage and deeply unsettled contest. First Harris and Sen. Alex Padilla passed on running. Then state Attorney General Rob Bonta and billionaire mall magnate Rick Caruso declined. Former Rep. Katie Porter, an early frontrunner stung by viral videos of contentious interactions with a journalist and a staffer, failed to pull away from the field. 🤡
When I was growing up, I used to wonder why Kentucky held its elections in May while other states held their elections in November. Later, I realized that the real election for public office in those days was the Democrat primary; if you won the Democrat nomination in May, you were thus elected about 95% of the time.
I suspect Politico feels there’s no point of wasting time on a Republican candidate. It’s not like they want to be fair something.
Plan A) Cheat and steal elections through fraud.
Plan B) Just pretend that there is no Republican Party.
“Namely the front runner is a Republican, Steve Hilton”
That’s a laugh.
He’s barely at 18%.
True, he has a shot at 44% of the voters in the election.
Not a laugh when you consider that ONLY the top two candidates in the nonpartisan June primary qualify to face each other in the November general election. And since there are over a dozen candidates, the split up makes being at 18% the clear LEADER in the primary thus guaranteeing him the November general election slot. Oh, and his opponent could well be another Republican who is in second place.
“I find it hard to believe that the indoctrinated retards in CA will actually vote for someone that won’t make things worse.”
If the polling is correct, a big if, according to my understanding of the California primary system, they may not have a choice of voting for someone who’s gonna make it worse
from the FRchives:
Politico is no doubt counting on vote fraud - which is rampant in California.
Mail in ballots sent to everyone + no ID to vote + illegals voting + legal vote harvesting = Eric Swawell as the next governor.
Wonder if Fang-Fang will be at his inauguration.
Most here don’t understand. If none of the democrats drop out their egos can work against them as they divie up the votes on their side. If that’s the case we can then strike at the right time getting our own to vote for the #2 republican. I think it’s doable but only if we’re smart and our opponents continue to fight amongst themselves.
Can corned beef cook well in a pressure cooker?
Voting here is by mail. Make phone calls the day before the ballots arrive and offer to send someone to pick them up. The post office has big mailboxes.
Somehow the dems will cheat the system to make sure a democrat is on the ballet in California. IF the unthinkable happens, thenSwallwell or whoever will go “independent” in order to get on the ballet that way.
What’s absurd? The Republicans aren’t going to get enough ballots to have enough votes to win anything.
“What’s absurd? The Republicans aren’t going to get enough ballots to have enough votes to win anything.”
Put a big enough scare in the Dems and they’ll spend resources that they could use in better places for them.
The Republicans really aren’t worth talking about.
Most likely neither gets to the general.
If one does, he loses 70-30.
If both do, the legislative Dems will put a ballot question on in November nullifying the election and setting a special election under rules assuring a Democratic candidate is on the final ballot.
In no case will a Republican become governor.
