Yesterday I had to drive to Avon, along this same route that the semi driver took. You should’ve seen the skid marks! It must’ve been a terrible thing to see when it happened, let alone be involved in.
I drive this route frequently, several times a week. I am still scratching my head trying to figure out HOW the driver missed seeing the light change, especially from the direction he was going. It is a wide open area, very visible, and the intersection marks where Danville stops and Avon starts.
He had to have been really speeding through there, or else was completely distracted and didn’t GAS. The speed limit is 55 there, 2 lanes on either side with a large green space median (IOW, a divided highway).
It is a heavily traveled road, as it is the main road that connects the two towns through its central portion. I can’t figure it out. There are lots of other places where accidents are fairly frequent. This has to be one of the more visible, and therefore safe, for drivers.
I pray for the deceased, Mr. Shultz. What a terrible thing for his family. I can’t wait to hear that the driver is deported or put away forever.

This illegal has citations for speeding, and I can only guess that’s what he was doing here. He was probably going at least 70. He doesn’t care one whit about safety. Get rid of him, please!

See my post 16. He’s been cited for excessive speeding several times, as recently as a month ago. How was his license not pulled? As well, where were my local cops? Somebody had to have seen him going so much faster than the speed limit there. I drive that way almost every day. Rarely do I see people driving 70 there, but I bet you he was. He thinks he has special privileges, but he’s about to find out that doesn’t work around here. The trucking company should be sued into oblivion, and I hope they are.
Just had a friend rear ended by a semi in that same general area of Hendricks County. The guy was speeding, didn’t have a valid CDL, his paperwork was missing and a truck that size was not supposed to be on the road she was driving. Thankfully no one was hurt. If she had been T-boned the results might have been much worse.
Thank goodness she wasn’t hurt, but this whole thing just keeps making me more mad. It is beyond time to crack down. I’m of illegal criminals, who don’t care at all about our laws. They need to be removed, pronto!
