This is crazy, but if California's governor election were today, both qualifiers would be Republican.

Don't get me wrong: No way the Democrats would let this happen. They'd simply make sure sufficient competitors dropped out of the race. But I think it's still worth noting that the top two gubernatorial candidates are Republicans. That would mean (emphasis on "would") mean that no Democrats qualified for the final.

According to RealClearPolitics' polling average, Republicans Hilton and Bianco both 15.5 % of the vote, beating out Democrats Swalwell (12.5%), Porter (10.5%), Steyer (8.5%) and Becerra (4.5%), Villaigrosa (3%), Thurmond (2%) and Yee (1.5%).

Yea but it’s crazy cali. A state that voted to allow a state constitutional change to disenfranchise republicans before the midterms so they would never allow such a thing to happen. Mark my words.

I like Hilton; but I’m on the other side of the country...

If this were to happen, they’d probably get rid of the jungle primary. They’ve got 4 months, though, and I suspect they’d raise the alarm of the danger of this and get the Leftist voters to consolidate around a candidate or two to prevent.

Another way would be to just have *every* candidate run as a Democrat - render it a nonpartisan ballot. If conservatives started getting elected, they’d get rid of it that way as well.

They will just do what they always do. Keep counting the votes until the Democrat wins.

Be that as it may, supposition doesn’t replace on the ground reality in the eyes of the “law”. As they say. prove it in court or it didn’t happen.

Legislature would put a Constitutional amendment on the November ballot nullifying the result of the Governor’s race and permitting the Lieutenant Governor-elect to succeed as acting Governor pending revote under a system guaranteeing a Democrat would be on the ballot. And it would pass at least 55-45 and probably closer to 65-35.

Polls do not account for vote fraud.

I am not familiar with Bianco (R).

Is he a bona fide competitive candidate?

Or, is he a RINO, just in the race to steal votes from Steve Hilton?

>> Polls do not account for vote fraud. <<
Actually, the funny thing is that they do. Poll methodologies are regularly calibrated to calculate who will show up to vote.
