Where are the Maltese Falcon Movies?
BEJ

I once predicted that the improvements in the realness of video games would never stop. That video games will look and act so real that we wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a game and real life. We will ask is that a real footbal game we're watching or is that a sports game being played? AI has delivered on that prediction to an astonishing way. Here is an example of how far AI has come.

Now my question is will Hollywood ever produce new films from dead actors? Will there be new Humphry Bogart movies? Will there be a part two or a sequel to movies like Casablanca or The Maltesse Falcon? Technically it should be possible, just like Steve McQueen (seen on the link) could be in a sequel to the movie Bullet. AI has delivered on my prediction and we can be evetually look forward to watching new Star Wars or Terminator movies using the original cast as AI characters. I think this is very possible but will Hollywood do movies of this kind, or maybe these older characters are not relevent to today's audiences as are the current generation of actors. Any thoughts?

Also think of some TV Series that were never concluded like "Land of the Giants." They could make a final movie where the Earth people help the giant planet people overcome oppression and they are so grateful they help the little people get back to Earth.

I agree the creative bankruptcy ship has sailed. Just saying this would be another element confirming that.

Yeah, that’s pretty good, thanks for the link.

I do wonder what it would take to have full on immersive movie interactions. Its still seems stiff, granted that may only be one hours worth of AI effort. Imagine a years worth.

Imagine a new Sinatra album, naw.. that’s too much for me.

Yeah, Land of Giants. I remember watching some of that. And maybe they can also make a final episdoe of Giliagan’s Island where everyone is saved and leaves the island. Possibilities are endless.

Movies are generally protected by copyright for 95 years. That means anything made before 1931 can be remade without compensation. I'm not sure how that goes for an individual actor, and whether or not they can use their likeness at all.

The library of desirable films from 1931 is pretty thin, but in about 10 years that will change dramatically. From just 1939 alone, you have Wizard of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, and Gone With the Wind.

In 1941, there were many great films that could be ripe for remake: Citizen Kane, The Maltese Falcon, How Green Was My Valley, and High Sierra.

Of course, I don't feel confident that any of the films could be improved by AI, or any intelligence.

Maybe not a remake but a sequel. I think Bogart, Peter Lori and the Fat Man had great chemistry, and there could be a series of movies spun from the The Maltese Falcon. But whether that chemisty can be captured as good as the visual likeness is another question.

Satan Met a Lady (1936) with Bette Davis is also a remake of the Maltese Falcon.

There’s the Cheap Detective(Peter Falk) and George Segal(The Black Bird). Segal played Sam Spade Jr.

There’s an effort being made to restore Orson Welles’ director’s cut of THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS using AI. The tests are impressive.

How about London After Midnight (1927), a lost film with lots of stills from it.

The Maltese Falcon with Bogart is one of my favorite films. If AI could make a quality film with him as Sam Spade I’m all for it. But baby steps first. Let’s see if AI can first just make a 2-3 minute video clip with Bogart’s appearance, voice and mannerisms.

Bring back Myrna Loy in some more Fu Manchu movies.
Also Jean Harlow, Veronica Lake, and Marlene Dietrich

Myrna Loy — now you’re talking.

And Claudette Colbert (still the best Cleopatra)

I’ve predicted for several years now that when the estate for a deceased major golden age actor/actress signs off on allowing their image and voice to be used in a new film and that film is a major success the floodgates will burst and the need for “live” actors/actresses will go “POOF”.
I also am looking forward to the new Bogart Bacall film.
But remember this is Hollyweird.
It may turn out that the estates may want to produce their own films and team up with other estates to create a set of casts for particular efforts.
There is a change coming.
