(NewsNation) — “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie is weighing a permanent exit from the top-rated morning show as the frantic search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, drags into its third week, sources tell NewsNation’s Paula Froelich.
Savannah Guthrie has been on leave as the FBI and authorities in Pima County, Arizona, pursue investigative leads into Nancy Guthrie’s Feb. 1 disappearance from her Tucson area home. It’s believed the 84-year-old grandmother was taken, and media outlets have received bitcoin ransom demands.
“This absolutely came out of the blue, and I think she’s really concerned that it was because of her job,” Froelich, NewsNation senior story editor, told “NewsNation Prime” on Saturday.

It would be horrible optics for her, can you imagine her going on TV doing The Today show and saying “Hi Im Savannah Guthrie, my mother is still missing but lets all make an apple pie”

I feel so badly for the 3 children of Nancy Guthrie. It is horrible not knowing where their Mom is. Is Nancy dead or alive?
Was Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapped from her home? Maybe, maybe not. Is it true she was driven from her daughter Annie’s home to her home? Maybe, maybe not. According to the sheriff Nancy’s garage door opened and shut 2 minutes later. There may be other electronic door openers with the same frequency. They would’ve been able to open and shut the garage door.
What about the masked man who removed the nest camera? What mode of transportation did he use to get to and depart from Nancy’s Guthrie’s home?
There was no ransom demand sent to the Guthrie family. Perhaps it was not a kidnapping.
Nancy Guthrie seemed to be comfortable financially. Her children Camron and Savannah seemed to ok too. Annie the other daughter and husband seemed to have one income. The husband was employed as a teacher. Annie was employed at nonprofit whose 2025 income was about fifteen thousand dollars.
This case is weird.
Especially since they said the Mom is frail and cannot walk???? So if she needs help getting around why isn’t there a live in caregiver or at least a housekeeper or hired caregiver like visiting angels? So when Nancy was brought back to her house did the son in law help with getting her situated for the evening? How did she even get around in that large house by herself? Did she manage her own meds and bathe herself and prepare her own meals? I haven’t heard anything about who attended to her personal care

With this level of scrutiny, the most likely two who wouldn't have gotten caught already are a master criminal or a random vagrant.
Nancy Guthrie would not be a target for a master criminal, which leaves the random vagrant as the most likely suspect.
Four years my mom is gone. Died at the age of 94, dementia led to the things that brought about her death.
It’s not mom was only 84 and was murdered.

I can’t imagine the animals who viciously assaulted Savannah’s elderly mother and took her. They will need to be put down.

A “right-wing” person is someone like me, and probably the two of you, who believes in: freedom, liberty, free speech, the right to keep and bear arms, someone who knows the difference between a boy and a girl, and someone who knows that our prosperity came from capitalism. The “nut” part comes from people who believe most of these things but would resort to violence to get their way. There are very few “right-wing nuts”
Because I support Trump, NBC probably DOES consider you and ME to be “far-right”. I think to them we’re all nuts.
Violence: I see violent comments on FreeRepublic very often, too often, and I’ve been here nearly every day since 1998. I used to report them using the “Report Abuse” button, but I never saw a single one deleted, though there are many of them, so I quit reporting them. I’ll send you an example soon.
I prefaced my comment with a comment that the overwhelming majority of political violence in this country is from the LEFT. Did you not read that part?
“Savannah Guthrie was touting right wing causes and needed quieting?” I don’t know but I doubt it. More likely she was touting left-wing hate against conservatives via distortions, omissions, and very selective editing per the NBC playbook and someone said to themselves, “I’m gonna get that b****”.

Why would you think I wouldn’t get back to you? I don’t make gratuitous comments that I cannot defend.
I have no way to prove these next two statements, but they are true.
1) I was SPOT-ON about the Casey Anthony case a few years ago. I knew the prosecution was full of it, but I expected a guilty verdict anyway. IMHO, Casey was guilty of several crimes, but she wasn’t charged with those crimes because the prosecution wanted a death-penalty guilty verdict for their hat.
2) I once called the FBI and told them how someone could get an explosive device past airport security right under their noses. Upon hearing how, the female FBI agent said, “Oh shit”. I don’t know if they made any changes or not since I haven’t flown since then and I’m certainly not going to tell how on an open forum.
I don’t think either of you presented an argument about why I might be wrong. If you did, please remind me and we can discuss it.
Another guy said my possible solution was “very interesting, but dumb”. So far, he has not responded to my request to explain the “dumb” part.
